Essential Hydration Extenders For My 72-Hour “Get To Safety” Bags
I use these as an essential addition to my family 72-Hour “Get To Safety” bags so that I can avoid carrying more water (too heavy). These allow me to be better prepared to deal with unexpected emergencies where dehydration would rob me of vital mental clarity and physical energy to properly respond.Situation normal – no emergency? You’ll win here as well because the ultralight 0.65-ounce weight per tube, and great citrus taste will help ensure that your electrolytes remain in balance whether you’re at home, at the gym, or pursuing other outdoor relaxations. I love that each serving (1 tube) has 285mg of Potassium. This item also includes 12g of added sugars. I suggest carrying a mix of this type product in your bag – some with added sugars and/or caffeine, some without – you can then better adapt to your situational needs for added energy, mental clarity, etc.Do yourself a favor and keep these in your emergency response bags. U.S. Quarter Dollar shown for sizing comparison.I hope you noted my comments and photos as being helpful in your considerations.

Too sweet
I found these to be too sweet. With a citrus flavor it would be nice if it had a bit of tanginess but there is none.

Flavor is ok but not great
The flavor is tolerable but not particularly good. I like that it's all natural but will probably stick to other products in the future.

Effective But Weirdly Flavored
Disclosure: This was sent to me for free via the Vine program. I did not receive monetary compensation to write this review, just the product itself.Again, as per usual, I'm reviewing an electrolyte solution. The summer heat's been bad...real bad around here, so it's been a nightmare trying to keep up with water. I have to keep taking electrolyte salts just to keep my body from being in screaming pain. Ah, the life of a cripple. I saw this product and was intrigued. Not only was it naturally sweetened (with sugar) but it also had orange juice powder in it. I'm a sucker for orange juice. It's my favorite drink I can no longer have but if it's just the powder and not the acidity, I figured that I could finally have it in a neat little electrolyte package. So I opted to try it.The pack comes in a large zip-top bag with 16 sticks of electrolyte powder. I took one out, opened it, and poured it into a 16.9 oz. bottle of Poland Spring bottle. It took QUITE a bit of shaking to get it to fully incorporate. Now, as I was shaking, I read the bag and couldn't help but laugh. This is sweetened with "PalatinoseTM", derived from sugar beets. It says "during the manufacturing process, we isolate the sucrose and remove the potentially harmful fructose and glucose". If you know basic organic chemistry, you should know this is bunk. Sucrose IS fructose and glucose, linked together by an oxygen bond (known as a glycosidic bond). When you consume it, the oxygen bond is broken during digestion...turning into glucose and fructose. According to the company, they say that they've changed the glycosidic bonding from an alpha-1,2 glycosidic bond to an alpha-1,6 bond (instead of bonding the hydroxyl groups at alpha-1 on the fructose and beta-2 on the glucose, it bonds at the alpha-1 hydroxy group on the fructose and the beta-6 ketone(?) of the glucose). Honestly, I'm a bit rusty at organic chemistry so this may not be perfectly correct but the fact of the matter is that this is still glucose and fructose. I'm guessing that the bond at that point in the sucrose is more difficult for the body to break and, thus, fragment the sucrose into glucose and fructose but it'll still happen. That would be in-line with their claim of the low glycemic index and the lack of blood sugar spike. That being said, how does it taste? Not good! The drink itself tastes of orange but it has a singularly...odd flavor to it, above and beyond the added stevia. It tastes...musty. That's really the only way I can describe it. I'm guessing it's a residual flavor left over from processing sugar beets that may be inherent to their process but it's...really off-putting. I was only able to drink about a half of the mix before it just made me feel...ill. You know when you eat something that tastes kinda off but you figure it's just you and you keep going anyway only to realize that it's not your tastebuds and, in fact, what you're eating? Yeah, that. The orange juice powder can't cover the flavor of it and I don't think much could. I had to ditch it.In summary, this is a weird product. IF you're diabetic, or have problems with sugar, or are an athlete/dieting, I can see this being a pretty decent product for you. The taste is pretty rough but if you got it good and cold and just downed it, I don't see you having any problems. But for people that just need an electrolyte solution and don't mind a "sugar spike" or having fructose/glucose in their diet, this is a tough beverage to get down. So, take it with a grain of electrolytes and decide whether or not you can deal with the root vegetable/musty flavor in favor of something with low calories and low glycemic index.

1.50$ serving, well hydrating, but a bit salty flavor is always present
I have enjoyed these when it comes to the orange flavor because I think it is a really good flavor profile for mixed drink the only caveat I have for that is if you aren't used to this kind of hydrating drink mix you have to understand there is going to be a higher salt taste then you may be used to at least that's what I fine. It's in no way unpleasant for me but I'm expecting it and know that it's going to happen when I'm drinking it if you're unprepared it might seem a little off pudding. That being said I go through at least one of these every time I'm heading out to spend two hours splitting wood or some other physically exerting task that it's going to burn any fluid I have in my body straight out of me. Am I so tired on the other end of it of course I am but I don't feel spent and parched at the same time which I'll take a win where I can get one in these kind of situations. Overall I like these I like the taste at $1.50 a packet it can feel a little high but they are offering a good quality of ingredients so I think that is coming in at a good price point once you consider that versus some random packet with not as well sauce ingredients inside of it.

Kinda chalky
Taste kinda chalky but still pretty good, so its easy to down it in 20 mins still. No undissolved bits giving me a gritty mouth feel and it isnt super sweet too. My only problem is the wrapper is kinda weak. I had one in the bottom of my bag and it wore down enough to break open lol. Have another brand in my bag too, same place and thats been there longer with no problem. So oh well but i wont travel with em again and if i do toss em in a plastic bag
