CARBON FIBER FABRIC 2X2 TWILL 3K 203.43GSM/6OZ 50" TORAY T-300

I am building a Cobra kit car,and wanted to "pimp" it up a bit with some carbon fiber look. I have never attempted anything like this before,so I thought it is a good idea to start where it is not too visible.Okay,inside the doors.The material comes neatly rolled up on a tube with plastic sheet protecting it. It is of high quality,but very delicate,so it has to be handled carefully.I sanded the gel coat inside of the doors,to make sure I have a good adhesion.For(black) epoxy resin and hardener I had already bought it from Gorilla Carbonworks,and after one layer with a cure time of 3 hours,I attempted to attach the carbon fiber.The surface was still sticky to the touch,but did not lave any material to my glove.Take extreme caution when applying the twill.You do not have a second chance,as trying to reposition it,will cause distortion of the fiber.Therefore,have an extra pair of hands available.The following procedures can be tedious,with polishing after tapered coarse sanding. I tried instead a single layer of the clear "Super Glaze" from Rust Oleum as a first top coat.This is thicker than the Gorilla epoxy,and can be applied with a squeegee.No sanding necessary,but make sure there's no dust in the room when it cures! To finish,I do recommend applying two layers of auto clear coat polyurethane,to delay a yellow discoloration on UV exposed parts. Next up,my aluminum console and the dashboard.Its going to look stunning!
