Well executed California framer
I continue to be impressed with Irwin tools. They just seem to consistently get it right. This hammer is no exception. Quality machining on the head, handle length and shape are right. Magnetic nail starter is handy. The only knock I could give it is that the handle isn’t the absolute highest grade hickory, but it’s straight grained, clear, and commensurate with the price. I expect it will be very serviceable and looks nice with the blue paint and carved Irwin logo. A good framer and I’d say on par with more expensive options.

The handle would never break.
Now as far this is an awesome Hammer that is awesome as I get. The handle would never break thank God I'll always break handles. But this is a really nice naturally balanced hammer. And I will not let anybody borrow this one ever again.

Gets the job done
It's a hammer... it works as intended. My only complaint is that it's too top heavy. It's not very well balanced.

Well balanced Cali framer.
I'm a retired Carpenter and part time handyman. I became curious about these framing hammers and bought 2. This one is excellent! The handle is just right for my huge hands and feels really good. Right away I was driving 16s with ease. Only my rig axe is better. I framed Apts for years and started old school with no nail guns. I wish I'd had this hammer back then! You can't beat a wood handle for comfort, balance and injury avoidance. If I was still framing, I'd buy 2 more, especially at this price. Irwin has discontinued this hammer so you better get it now. It's very well made. Anesthetics are good! Highly recommended!! My previous framing hammers are shown next to this new Irwin.

Excellent design and weight.
If you're like me, there always seems to be a "honey do" list, I highly encourage you to make a "tool go bag". What's that? A tool bag with all of the tools you need to fix most household issues. Screwdrivers, headlight, scissors, tape, electrical testers, stud finder etc. And, of course a good hammer.I didn't want to rob my normal garage toolbox of a hammer so when I made my "tool go bag", picked this hammer up. Very happy with it. Right weight, right features exactly what I needed.

I've liked this hammer so much.......
I've lost it 5 times and repurchased it 5 times. thanks to all those I've given the menial task of tool wrangler at the end of the day.BTW that's 5 in a year!great hammer though. I get it pounds nails like a 10$ hammer but it won't break when demo work is happening and has good balance.shame the guy using it let's it run away on the job.
