'Springsteen & I' is a unique feature music documentary celebrating a rock 'n' roll icon: Bruce Springsteen. Working with the filmmakers, Springsteen's fans have helped create a film that reflects on their personal insights and experiences to explore what this timeless artist means to them. Their stories are at times touching, at times humorous, at times extraordinary and they all come from the heart. Combined with previously unseen archive footage of performances throughout Springsteen's career, this is a film by the fans and for the fans created with the full support of Bruce Springsteen.

A must own for any Springsteen fan.
A fantastic release. For a Springsteen fan this is an emotional roller coaster as it is through our eyes that this film is produced. I was worried the experience would be somehow lessened watching it at home after experiencing it in the theater with a crowd of other fans. My concerns were quickly dispelled as I slipped on my headphones and sank into this movie at home. I realized it wasn't just about the crowd and fans I was with, it gave me the opportunity to be more directly joined with the stories in the film and reflect on my own Springsteen connections. The BD version is the same presentation as in the theater with four extra fan stories added as bonus features. Admittedly, I wouldn't have missed them. But if you haven't seen it, do not bypass the bonus footage from Hard Rock Calling 2012. Nils' solo in Because the Night is one of he most powerful guitar solo's I have ever seen.I predict that I will viewing this film quite frequently.

disappointed in this
Came very quickly. I was, however, disappointed in this. I knew it was a documentary on/about Springsteen, but I assumed incorrectly that it would follow Springsteen himself around. Rather, it was a series of interviews by die-hard Springsteen fans. I thought I was a die-hard fan of Springsteen, this being the only thing on dvd or cd I did not have of his, but after seen the fans on this documentary, I realized I am no where as "die-hard" as I thought I was. I'm a very tame fan in comparison. Still a good watch, but would rather have a documentary told through the eyes of Springsteen himself OR by a filmmaker who's documenting his life.

Springsteen and I
This is a documentary about Springsteen from his fans. It is a moving and at times, poignant account from the fans' perspective on how Springsteen and his music have impacted upon their lives. There are also quite a few humorous moments in the film that had me laughing till tears streamed down my face. Some fans, on the other hand, may find some of the moments in the film a bit over the top. I don't find that to be the case at all thinking back on all the times I went out of my way to see a Springsteen concert. From this point of view, I think the film will most appeal to the die hard fans. There is also concert footage interspersed throughout the film showing Springsteen performing with the passion that has drawn legions of fans to him. At the end of the film, there is some footage of the 2012 Hard Rock concert in London in which Paul McCartney makes a guest appearance. This film is a rare treasure taken from a different angle not typical of your usual concert film footage.

My hero, too.
Full disclosure: I submitted a couple videos for this project and was not selected (although one video was viewed over 500 times, which made me happy). So those who were included better be worthy! I think the filmmakers did an ok job. It's hard not to just gush about Bruce if you like him. The Elvis dude was funny and humble and worthy of his 15 minutes of fame. Everyone else is very sincere. The Bruce clips in the movie were nice, in particular the Growing Up clip from who knows how long ago. I think I would have liked the movie more if there was more appreciation of just how special and talented an artist Bruce has been over the years. I would have included a few critical perspectives, nothing too long, just enough to provide appreciation of his extraordinary contribution to American culture in particular. The extra musical performances from London were a great addition, too. Many reasons to see this, but probably more for the longtime diehard fans than for those just coming to learn about Bruce's music and hugely generous persona.

Good for serious fans only
I am a life long Bruce fan and found this movie to be heartwarming and touching at times, but also a little scary with the intensity of some people's fandom. I didn't realize the entire film was made of fan videos, no interviews with Bruce or the band, and just a few fan taped performances (should have read the reviews better, lesson learned). This format is a little tedious, but worth sticking it out for the amazing interaction stories.

I think BRUCE fans will enjoy this
I`m a longtime Bruce fan, 84 concerts, in 7 countries, since 1978, I enjoyed the way people told their stories, and then the stories were followed up with the actual footage from the concerts, and most of the testimonials were pretty good. I wished the movie itself, would have been a little longer, considering they received 2,000 fan responses. When I saw the movie premier, in Harrisburg, PA, the Philly Elvis was in the theatre, with his posse.

Great Video
I really liked this video. Was fun to see comments folks made about Bruce's music. I especially liked the person who is the grounds keeper at the stadium (can't recall where) and his descriptions. Really heartfelt. Woman whose husband thought the shows were a bit long was quite funny. The Elvis from Philly was great too. Watch the extra video where a few fans meet Bruce. It's really nice.

Human Touch
These fan videos strung together make a compelling and often very moving narrative, not just about being a Bruce Springsteen fan, but what it means to have music central to your life and deep in your veins. The emotional connection Springsteen makes through his work and performances is rare - and that he makes such great music too makes that kind of fandom even more rare. There are some really "lump in the throat" moments - the middle aged couple dancing in the kitchen to Radio Nowhere, and the wife describing herself (straight out of a Nebraska song) as a "actress/waitress"; the truck driving girl chasing some mirage; the guy who keeps the grass cut at the stadium Bruce has just rocked; the Danish woman who says "he do not know me, but he is my friend". There are funny moments too, with the "Philly Elvis" who pulls his hamstring when finally realising a life's ambition to get on stage with Bruce, and the guy who wrote the "I've just been dumped" sign and is rewarded with a funny little Bruce speech and a big man hug. It's human, moving, and tremendously exciting - just like the man himself. And, some very lucky people get to actually meet him at the end, including the guy who doesn't actually like him but goes to all his concerts because his wife does (Bruce says, "oh, here's the guy who doesn't like the show"). Not just for fans, but for anyone who has ever loved anything from a distance - and that's everyone, surely?

Enjoyable and informative DVD
I don't imagine for a second that anyone except a die hard Springsteen fan would buy this, so I imagine that it will have mostly great reviews! I really enjoyed it. It was humorous at times and sometimes moving. We had videos and comments mainly from American fans (as expected) but also from fans all over the world. It made me feel, that as a Springsteen fan, I was part of a huge, world-wide community. I was also quite surprised by how many of the fans were young, which is great. Its nice to know that there is a whole new generation of fans out there. There was also footage from various concerts, some recent, some long ago, which were great and which were new to me. This really was a film made by fans, for fans. It had an innocence to it which was quite charming. Altogether I really enjoyed it and I recommend it to all Springsteen fans.

Obsessed fans only.
Being a big Broooooce fan I bought this based on the live footage not the main documentary. I do not really want to hear other fans waxing on about their collection and the number of shows they have seen or how listening to Bruce has changed their lives. I want to see the man himself and the rare footage that is scattered through the fans talk. It is not something I will watch time and time again except for the Hyde Park songs before the power was cut with Macca.Only purchase if a real fanatic.

Worth it for the music - definitely.
Well-worth getting for the musical clips - there are some cracking tunes included and the final sequence, involving Born to Run, is genuinely inspired.I can only fast-forward through some cringe-inducing accounts by some fans; other fans make touching and heart-felt statements about what Springsteen's music means to them. You'll have to decide for yourself which bits you like!

You HAVE to buy this!
I saw this at the movies. Couldn't wait to order it for home. This a must for Springsteen fans, and even if you aren't one, you might just become one after the movie. It is a very touching documentary- a real tribute to The Boss. His kindness and humility shine through. The surprise at the end is the same as in the movie. Also the bonuses are very impressive.Great buy!!
