Can this really be played by one person or does it take more players? The description says 1 to 5 players.

Yes you can play with one person. The game doesn't have a DM and the monsters are controlled by what are basically AI routines printed on he cards. It's quite ingenious really

What are the minis that come with this set?

Straad the vampire, werewolf, a hag, a kobold tentacle wizard dude, 3 gargoyles, 3 forest spiders, 3 wolves, 3 ghouls, 3 kobold spearmen, 3 ghouls, 3 zombies, flesh golem, zombie dragon, dracholich, 3 skeletons, 3 flaming skeletons, 3 ghouls, and I think 5 heroes. I may have missed some. I think there are something like 50 minis. All unpainted. From a value perspective I saw that someone had spent about $120 to buy the same set of minis from the set boxes, all painted. All the minis are about 28mm scale. The zombie dragon and the flesh golem are large scale, the dracholich is huge

How many hours does it take to play?

This game can take from 30 minutes to an hour or more depending on what mission you play. Painting the miniatures also can help pass the time!

Is there miniatures in the box if so how many?

42 plastic miniatures: 5 hero figures, 30 monster figures, and 7 villain figures.
