Neuropuncture: A Clinical Handbook of Neuroscience Acupuncture, Second Edition

Good explanation of theory merged with practice for e-stimulation acupuncture
I wish more acupuncture books were written like this one. The topic is focused, in this case on a electro stimulation acupuncture (EA), covering both theory and practice with the right amount of examples and treatment patterns. The author covers the anatomy of the main branches of the nervous system showing how distal points and local points align with both western medical understanding and eastern medical treatments of diseases using acupuncture. The description of the type of nerve endings and how to they can and should be stimulated (frequencies and milli/micro-currents) to get the desired results is by far what makes this book most useful. There is a little redundant information in the book, but probably this is well placed for future reference rather than reading. While this book is geared to those use EA in their clinic, I think it would be useful to any acupuncturist to help in understanding the efficacy needling techniques.

Not Helpful
As a seasoned acupuncturist, I learned nothing of value from this book.I was quite amused at the authors attempt to fit traditional acupoints along nerves... some points were at the thickest part of the nerve, others were at the thinnest; some were at the proximal end of the nerve, while others were at the far distal part of the nerve. In other words, based simply on neurology, there is no rhyme or reason for selecting the locations of the points. If the points weren’t already established by acupuncturists, the ‘neuropuncture’ idea would carry no weight. It appears to me ‘neuropuncture’ is just a weak attempt to try to make Eastern Medicine seem ‘scientific’ and ‘plausible’.

Great book, horrible price
This is a wonderful book! It's very well written, extremely easy to read and understand, and has lots of great pictures and diagrams which show the nerves, acupuncture points along the nerve pathway, and the pages are thick which means less torn or damaged pages. The ONLY reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is because of the price. You can literally read it in a day, the font is rather large and there's only 160 pages minus 16 pages of forward and abbreviations and "about the author". It's a rather small book, only measuring about 6" x 8". So, if I were the author, I'd comfortably sell this book for $25 on the high end. But $40?? A bit high, regardless of the content.

Gives us a scientific explanation of why acupuncture works. Teaches a vocabular that doctors and other healthcare practioners can understand and relate to. The principles can be applied to any issues I see in my practice, not only pain, but emotional, and internal medical. A must have and understand text for anyone practicing acupuncture in the 21st century.

Not what I expected.
The book is basically a review of a number of acupuncture points that correlate to nerves being found in the same place. Not much to actually rave about, or study for that matter. Well written and interesting, but not for me I'm afraid.

Excellent book on understanding how pain is transmitted and how acupuncture (specifically electroacupuncture) can affect these pain pathways. There are specific protocols at the end of the book for a variety of conditions which can be used immediately in clinic.

neuropuncture
très bien expliqué, mais la partie sur les protocoles de traitement auraient pu être plus élaborés avec des images pour faciliter l'application de ceux-ci, mais sinon très bon livre. Une approche neuroanatomique de l'acupuncture.
