Awesome product
Great product.I usually reapply much every 2 years, pretty much because the color has faded and it starts to look bad. Then I thought, can't I simply dye the mulch just like they do in manufacturing? Then I found this. It's THICK and DENSE. I used a 1 gallon pump sprayer to apply, which works OK but is a hassle for large areas and will kill your back. You can't spray this willy-nilly unless you don't care about overspray.Mixing - easy peasy. Just follow the directions.Application - easy. You can't leave the sprayer once you start, the product will clog up the nozzle, so either do your mulch in sessions, or leave the tip in a cup of water if you've got to leave the unit for a period of timeCoverage - soaks into mulch and dry wood REALLY well. I even got the idea to spray some landscape timber we have. It would probably take a few coats to get rid of the splotchyness, but it looks a lot better than it did. This product tends to bead up on most greenery and leaves, which is OK. It will generally wash off with the rain. It does SOAK into wood though, which is why rain won't wash it out of the mulchCleanup - fine. Plenty of water does the trick. I did maybe 3-4 sessions of 1-2 hours of application (3-4 gallons each) and cleaned the sprayer entirely after every application. Just plenty of water through the whole thing.Storage - make sure you tightly cover the container. Even then the cap tends to cement to the bottle due to the presence of the product.I have a LOT of mulched area and this half gallon will probably allow me to do the area twice before it runs out.One thing's for sure, it looks a LOT better than faded mulch, and it's a LOT cheaper than doing a dress coat of mulch (just for color).

Looks good, applied easily
I like that it applies easily. It's a bit messy so you need to be careful when mixing it. I applied it with a gallon pump sprayer and it worked fine. Turned the old and faded mulch dark again. Took a damp rag which easily wiped off any overspray on leaves etc. applied it a couple weeks ago, so I'll see how long it holds up in the south Florida sun.

Nice idea
Takes longer to spray faded mulch that to refresh with newCan spray on dirt or bare spots and some bush trimmings that can’t be raked up but does not hold color long

Looks great - costs almost nothing!
I had a large area to cover, and I'm pretty cheap. I got a shredded tree for free from Chip Drop, but it was natural tree color. After spreading it and letting it dry, I used this chip dye with a 4-gallon backpack pump sprayer and got these results. I'm really happy! This was two coats, and probably a 150 sq.ft. area. I still have over half a gallon left. Mix per instructions or you could get clogged sprayer if the mixture is too thick. This stains the top layer and a little further down, but keep a small spray bottle of dye handy to fix any areas where unstained chips get stirred to the top (not really a problem if you're just touching up faded mulch or chips). Including before and after pics.

Black Gold
I now know why the local Home Depot and Lowes stores don't carry this product in stock - they wouldn't sell as much mulch. this product is unbelievable and well worth the purchase. I mixed about twice the recommended concentrated amount with warm water, and it really bring the mulch back to life. Highly recommended and will be definitely buying again in the future - the most important part is making sure you have a high output sprayer to apply coating.

works okay, does't hold up too long though.
I'm not a fan of dyed mulch. That being said I had a customer with way too much mulch to add more without removing some and she didn't want to pay for that. So... we opted to try dying it in place. It's easy to apply with a pump sprayer, although I can never use that sprayer for anything else now since it is pretty clogged up with the dye. It looked great, just like new once I put it on, but it fades FAST. Maybe a month and it needed to be reapplied. Easy enough to do, and certainly cheaper than buying more mulch.

Great product tricky to use
I garden for a living and I find that customers with natural brown mulch don't love how it fades over time. There isn't a brown dyed product available in bulk and natural mulches only have soil mixed in for coloring. I've been excited to try this product for a while. It looks great when applied and hasn't run in the rain. I would say it doesn't go as far as the package claims but that's fine.Once it's opened it gets thicker and thicker and the package says you have 5 days to use it. I bought a deck sprayer with a wider hose and used the largest fan nozzle based on other reviews here. It does tend to gum up the sprayer though. I would recommend having a bucket of soapy water on hand and the tools to disassemble your sprayer to keep cleaning it out handy. With all the unclogging it is a slow process. If you have to open the sprayer under pressure to unclog it it can be very messy. I would recommend having your whole area prepped and then just working start to finish to get it done before it thickens. It does clean up well with water immediately if you have a spill. In brown it does give the look you've always dreamed of So I think it's worth it. Personally, I would use this and recommend it for brown dye but would rather just top up red or black mulch with a thin layer to get a fresh look. You can see in the picture the stop line on last year's natural mulch. The homeowner was thrilled with the result. I will very likely use this product in the future.
