Excellent quality purchase
This jig may cost a few more dollars than some of the others, but it was well worth every penny. Not only is it made in the USA out of USA materials, but it is accurate and very very well built. My first attempt at using this jig was to build my son a toddler bed and every joint lined up perfectly. The clamp works well and I like that the layout of the threaded holes on top allows for 4 different preset dowel spacing widths. The auto centering feature is very nice too, it is a time saver so you don't have to do a lot of measuring. I was actually able to use this jig on some boards that are wider than the jigs capacity.

Perfect
Bought this because it was the highest reviewed doweling jig I could find. I can see why. Very precise tool and very sturdy. When I bought this it was my first time doing any doweling type work and this tool really made it easy. Boards lined up perfectly. You can only do 2 holes at a time but it s very easy to clamp/unclamp. Bought over a year ago and used on dozens of projects. Still precise and still just as solid.

It is not perfect!
I bought this after returning a cheaper one from China. This is well made and machined in the USA. I may have received a bad one and probably should have returned it. The etched markings for lining up the jig are not centered with the bored holes so my joints are off 1/16".

Awesome jig for thick wood and dowels
I needed something that would provide an even, straight, and level hole for the dowels. I've searched other places and found complete junk. This may be a little pricey but at least when you loosen or tighten, this provides a good center. I've used it on around 40 to 50 holes and works great. I like the fact that I can change the guides and place them where i want. Good solid product.

Just short of 5 stars....
A heavy duty jig with good precision and easy to use. I would have given it 5 stars except for the "burrs" that were on two of the drill bushings that had to be reamed out prior to use as the 3/8" drill bit would not fit through the bushing. Once that was fixed, jig worked very well.

Very accurate doweling jig by Task
I am in the process of building a sofa table. I wanted to use dowels to join all of the parts. I had made other projects, but did the dowels freehand with acceptable results. For this project I really wanted to be especially accurate.I ordered this tool on Monday and it arrived on Friday. I was pleased to see that it was machined out of anodized aluminum and the taps were precision. Plus, it was made in the USA by American workers. This afternoon I did 12 holes for the first dowels and they were where I measured and straight into the wood with no wobble or travel in any direction. I did use a self tapping bit and I was very careful with the measurements. It is easy to line up the tool, precisely.I would recommend it to anyone who needs to have accurate holes put in their wood projects. I expect to use it extensively for other projects as well.

Excellent Jig. Easy to use.
Really pleased with this thing. I use dowels for lateral stability for glue ups of wide boards. I had a Sears one that was always off by 1 millimeter, causing the dowels to be off center. This thing is well made, and exact in centering on trued lumber. Word of caution: the middle portion- the black metal is not aluminum- its iron, so a light coat of Jojoba oil will protect against rust. Five stars to the design and execution.

Works great
Worked like a charm. I had to take a standard door and sister another 2.5" to the long edge for a custom door frame and used this to attach the extra piece to the door. Put in 10 dowels and was pleasantly surprised when the door and the added piece went together perfectly, never had this luck with a biscuit joiner. Couldn't tell where the two pieces joined. Easy to use, solid construction.
