turns out it was worth it
I agree that this 'microdesk' is a prohibitively expense piece of plastic, but I do love it. My partner loved it so much that they got one too. I am looking between papers and computer screens all day long for work, and I'd often have to do that annoying thing where you put your papers between you and the keyboard. reach across to type, and fold and unfold your neck repeatedly to look between the papers and screen. The microdesk not only increases my available working surfaces, but really helps my neck. My keyboard also fits under it with a few inches to spare for a tidy look when I'm away (or feeling really confident with my typing).I did a lot of research before committing to this one, and it seemed like it met my needs/desires the best. Some light assembly is required. My partner was complaining of squeaking, but that all stopped when I pressed the pieces together tighter. The angle of the desk are adjustable using the feet that screw in. There's an option of using a low bottom ledge piece (~1/3 inch) or a taller ledge piece (~3/4 inch).

*Really* helps headaches!
Ok, I should have purchased this a year ago!The Bad: This is losing a star for 2 reasons. 1) My product arrived scratched, with gouges in the writing surface and an aftermarket sticker from a defunct ergonomics company on it. 2) The screw-in adjustable feet need to be longer. When they are adjusted for the max recommended height (to sit over a keyboard) the screws are barely within their fittings, so the whole writing slope wobbles. If they gave us 6 screws (2 short, 2 medium, 2 taller) instead of the 4 (2 very short, 2 medium) this would be more stable and more adjustable to sit over a keyboard. As others have said, if your microdesk is squeaking, press the pieces together more firmly. With regular use they can wiggle loose a bit.The good: I spend *a lot* of time referencing text books and articles while trying to take notes on my computer and write. All through the pandemic my computer headaches have gotten worse and worse. I have min-maxed my computer set up as much as I can, did PT for my neck ... everything. I have been using this for 3 weeks and my headaches are much less frequent. It seems kind of silly, but a slanted piece of plastic to hold my book above my keyboard so that my screens and papers are all in line? GENIUS!If you have ever lost an afternoon to headaches while looking back and forth between your desk papers and your monitor, please try this. I really wish I had tried it sooner!

Broken
The media could not be loaded. I just opened my box and passed my window to return. Product is damaged out of box. No damage to box . I'm sad such an expensive purchase to have damage.

I love this thing
I had one of these a while back and it was demolished in the trunk of my car. The whole back end of the car was smashed by an RV on the highway so it had nothing to do with the product. I worked without one for a while because I didn't have the money to replace it but I finally decided that my neck was worth the money. It's amazing how much this helps when you are at a computer a lot but also have papers to look at. The first one I had was bought for me by my company as an ergonomic fitting for my desk based on the company's physical therapist's recommendation. I think that says a lot. Spend the money, it's really worth it.

Easily accommodates little piles whether editing
We've now purchased three of these. Document holders simply create more difficulty when you're working with three or four open files and various pages. This is the answer! Easily accommodates little piles whether editing, researching, composing . . . a GREAT find and worth the money!

Overpriced, lacking in quality
Very overpriced for how flimsy the plastic is. The entire Microdesk is wobbly once assembled as well.Mine cracked down the middle after less than 6 months of regular use. I leaned on the middle a bit while writing and it was enough pressure to break the main sheet of plastic, which is too thin. Granted, I could have been more careful, but a little bit of pressure shouldn't break a $100 USD desk accessory.

I really like this slanted work desk
I really like this slanted work desk. It's relieved my headache and neckstrain that I got from reading copy that was flat on my desk.
