Charles Spurgeon is a renowned author, so get ready to read... a lot. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Especially for those who feel nervous in approaching God in prayer, and want to learn what Spurgeon calls the art of prayer... *by F***B on September 2, 2017* At first this small paperback, with it's small print, seems unassuming and could easily be overlooked when one's looking for reading material on prayer. However, do not let its appearance fool you. Spurgeon does an inspiring job in helping the average person feel that God is very much interested in their prayers. Spurgeon speaks particularly to those who feel insignificant or outcast, and unsure about approaching such a great God as we serve. We may wonder if God is truly interested in our prayers, what we need or what we're concerned about, but Spurgeon reassures us that God is very much interested, and Jesus, even more so. Spurgeon reassures us that what we pray for WILL be done, if we but understand that when Jesus said, "I say unto you..." that He was telling us we have His reassurance that prayers are answered. He, who sits at the right hand of God intercedes on our behalf. What a partner to have in prayer! Spurgeon reminds us that if our prayers are not selfish or vindictive, then as a child of God we have every right to approach God with our prayers and need not come into His presence with lowly demeanor nor wobbly knees. He describes in very good detail the verse that says, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you." Spurgeon describes to us what he calls the art of praying. It's not a formula or some type of manipulation he teaches us, but a teaching taken straight from Jesus' own words on how we ought to pray. I also have several prayer books by E.M Bounds, who is also an oustanding writer on the subject of prayer. However, I believe that this book would be a great beginner for someone who is unsure of themselves when it comes to whether God's paying attention to their prayers and helps one learn what prayer is really about. After having this wonderful teaching under your belt, you can confidently go on and read books on prayer by E.M Bounds because Mr. Spurgeon has laid a very important foundation for you, in prayer, that will follow you all the days of your lives. This is definitely an annointed book!
