Big Workhorse in a Small Package
I actually purchased this compressor for my inflatable standup paddleboard. I had purchased an electric SUP pump previously, but it would not work for me and I was looking for a better, more affordable alternative. I had purchased an HR valve/Schrader valve adapter earlier on that I was hoping to use with my old electric tire pump, but flow rate on that pump was much too slow to inflate the board in a reasonable amount of time. When this one came, I tried it out right away. My 9'8" paddleboard has a volume of 193L and it was able to inflate it to 20 PSI in 20 minutes. That's more than twice the time an SUP pump takes, but for me it was worth it when you consider the following: If I want, I can put the first 10 pounds in my board using the hand pump and use the compressor for the rest, which cuts the total inflation time by about half. Most SUP pumps cost more than this unit and a lot of them only go up to 15 PSI; the ones that can go up to 20 can cost up to $300; it doesn't have the feature that shuts it off when it reaches a set pressure, but this thing can probably go up to 30 PSI or even higher depending on the size of your board and you can easily custom tailor your pressure and use it to just add a couple extra pounds (once the board gets stiff at about 15 PSI, those extra pounds only take a minute or so). Other pluses: It comes with a 3-year warranty - something you rarely find for any product - and it can run for a full 30 minutes without overheating whereas most other pumps in this class can only run for 10. The carry bag it comes with is very handy although the "doctor style" zipper takes two hands to open and close; it fits the entire kit and still leaves room for a hand-held pressure gauge and other small supplies. The pressure gauge on the pump is very accurate and the needle doesn't flutter while it's running. Also, its noise level is considerably lower than my old pump. On the down side: the rechargeable battery only gives you about 10 minutes of power on a full charge, but I don't really need to use it for my SUP and with this pump that's more than enough time to top off all your car tires including the spare. The pressure gauge's accuracy info is printed directly on the crystal of the gauge, making it a little harder to read, particularly in subdued light. Also, the manufacturer can be difficult to get a hold of and they're not very good about returning phone calls and emails. My pump did develop a problem with the power switch after having it for a little over 30 days, but when I followed the instructions for warranty returns on their website, they fixed the unit and returned it right away. All in all, I'm pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to any other iSUP owners as an alternative to the more expensive, and often unreliable, SUP pumps on the market. This thing is impressively fast for such a compact size.
