Excellent Knife
This is a beautiful knife. The wooden handle is shaped comfortably and provides good control and it is not heavy. The manufacturer description of this knife is accurate. This is definitely the sharpest knife I’ve ever owned.Overall, I am very happy with this product.

A reasonable 8" Chef's knife for the price.
This 8" HotLife Chef's knife came securely packaged in a heavy cardboard box. Inside the knife's blade was protected by a piece of cardboard, inside a plastic sleeve. The knife has a nice heft at just over 210 grams. It does not have a full bolster, so watch your fingers when chopping. The blade looks like stamped and ground steel, and the grind pattern is visible on the blade. The HotLife logo is printed on the obverse side near the spine. The construction of the wooden handle does not align with the tang, leaving the metal slightly raised above the wood in the handle, and creating an uncomfortable crease. Prolonged use causes some discomfort. The handle is also shorter than most at just over 11cm (4.5") but does have a flared butt that can help provide a rest point.Overall this is an inexpensive chef's knife that should suffice for most in basic kitchen use.

Nice sharp knife. Does not have a full bolster.
My back ground - I spent more than a decade working as a chef in the U.S and over seas. During that time I was exposed to, and acquired some very good knifes. They say "If you cant stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." and I did several decades ago. However, I still have my knives, and understand and appreciate good equipment. The Hotlife 8 inch chef knife came quite sharp, and did very well in the paper test (see video) and tomato test (see photo). I found I like the knife for better slicing, and less for choppingI like the handle. It has the hump at the end, which helps with retaining the blade in your hand. The Hotlife 8 inch chef knife weighed in at 210 grams. For context my lightest 8" German style chef knife, what I call a "Fakebatier" (since it is made in China with a German shape and not really French at all) weighs 207 my heaviest is a Wizeka at 242. All my German style knives have a full bolster which adds to the weight. To bolster, or not to bolster, that is the question. The benefit of not having a full bolster, is it is easier to sharpen the full length of the blade. You can also use the full length of the blade for slicing. It also keeps the weight down at the butt end, which may or may not be what you are after. The advantage of a full bolster is it gives you more oomf for chopping at the butt end. The other advantage of a full bolster is that it give you someplace to place your fingers when you choke up on the blade for more precise work. (see photos) If you always change to a smaller blade, then this may not be an issue for you. For me it is a problem as I already have a habit of choking up on the blade when I need more control.BTW, Dear Hotlife, Your models are attractive. But you should teach them how to hold a knife! So for me this knife is not a good fit. For you, you need to examine your grip and habits, to determine if you want a full bolster or not.Regarding the quality of the steel. It is possible to make a mediocre steel razor sharp. Good steel is what allows the knife to stay sharp. So it will take some time to know the answer to this.Bottom line - Looks great. Nice handle. Very sharp. Lighter than many others. Slices better than it chops. Good for those who don't like full bolster.( I make sure all my friends know I was once an internationally celebrated chef. No matter what country I cooked in, when I left, they celebrated... )

Good value knife
As a professional cook, I am pretty impressed with the weight and feel of this knife. The hilt is nicely weighted and feels very comfortable in my hand. It has a false wood coating, however it's all metal. I personally like the false wood, because wooden handles can get water logged and split. The blade of the knife travels to the base of the hilt. It is sharp right out of the box. I cut a fresh piece of french bread with it without any resistance. So far this is a great knife. I will continue to use it. I am not sure how long it will keep its sharpness or how it will hold up to sharpening it.So far so good. And for the price point worth it.
