Yes, the card images are dark. However, I'm so pleased with this deck because vintage themes and items are a favorite with me. I soooo like the darker tea-stained or aged card images. The usual intense yellows and reds of conventional Smith Ryder Waite decks aren't very attractive, so this deck is special to me. I'm very comfortable using this deck for readings. It's a full-sized deck, not a mini or smaller sized deck. The smaller decks are quite common now, I feel lucky I got this full-sized deck. The card paper weight is substantial. The rich Florentine brown/gold scroll pattern on the back of the cards is lovely so the deck looks expensive. I did give four and not five stars for the "easy to read" aspect because some folks might not be comfortable with the darker images or could have trouble seeing the images. I was also puzzled at the deck box because the cardboard is thin and flimsy, one corner was ripped, and one corner was a little crushed. A quality deck like this deserves a much better card box. I can find a velvet pouch or carved wooden box for it pretty easily though. Overall, for the pleasing vintage look, card size, and deck quality, it's definitely 5 stars. It's also a very, very good deal for the price.

The media could not be loaded.  Love the color of the cards. Thicker and more sturdy than my other decks. Very detailed book with color pictures for every card's description. Very impressed with the quality for the price! Definitely recommend for beginners and experienced readers alike.

Its exactly what i expected it to look like and i love that, however this isnt exactly how i expected them to feel! They are quit thin for a tarot card they dont feel like the cheapest cards ive ever bought but they are about as thick as a regular playing ! When you get a new deck it should be hard to shuffle because of how stiff they are and they bend pretty easily! "the weaker the card, the weaker the energy"

I needed a basic deck that I could 'age' for photos and still use for readings. This deck has a great vintage look to begin with but i wanted a more used feel. I used a nail file to age the cards more, the Cardstock handled that fantastically. If you want a basic deck that is a good price and amazing quality this is the deck for you.

I am a fairly skilled tarot reader, and I only bought this deck to go with my Halloween costume. My intention was to beat it up and make it look worn and old (one of the reasons I liked the antique print look). I was expecting a super cheap quality deck, but was so pleasantly surprised I had to pop in with a review! The card stock is a LITTLE on the thinner side, but I actually prefer that. They shuffle beautifully (which will be helpful in a party situation). I was being pretty rough with them, hoping to bang up some edges, maybe bend a couple corners, and they have stubbornly stayed in beautiful condition - lol! (The photos are after shuffling them for a good 30 minutes.) The biggest surprise was the little guide book. These are usually complete trash. Not only is this one printed in color, the explanations (extremely brief obviously) are really not bad for someone just getting started. It doesn’t go into reversals, but that tends to get overwhelming for beginners anyway. Short story long, if someone is looking for a traditional Rider Waite deck with a little different look, this one gets a thumbs up from me!

I like that they shuffle really nice, but they peel on the edges. I just got these cards. BUT they feel good in the hands.
