Item appears to be used or a return, not brand new
The planner I received appears to have been used or possibly a store return, rather than brand new. The original Filofax plastic protective wrap around the planner was missing, with the planner being wrapped in a sheet of protective, gauze like fabric, and taped closed. The normal cardboard that is generally in the front and back large pockets was not there. Some of the standard inserts were missing, including the contact lists, to do lists, and the full set of sample paper such as the grid or dot paper. There is a wrinkle on the back cover of the planner warped into the leather that indicates maybe it was used for a time. For the price, which was higher for this color than any of the other colors, I expected a new planner as Filofax packages them, not a used one, or a store return, which seems to be the case. I reduced the rating due to this. That said, I am in love with this purple personal Malden. The size is perfect to fit in my bag as an every day carry. I have an A5 Malden in Pear, which is my every day work planner, which I also love. This one is intended for household organization, so will hold more personal information than what I like to put in my professional planner. As always, the Filofax quality is apparent in the soft, antiqued leather and the contrast stitching. I love the Malden layout, with the zip pocket and card slots on the left and the wide pockets on the right. Even with the noted issues, I'm certain I will get many years of use. Had the price or listing reflected the actual condition of the product (appears used or was a store return) I would have given it 5 stars.So... Product 5 stars, Seller 3 stars only due to the noted issues. I could have knowingly purchased a used one from another site at a (much) lower price. I thought I was purchasing a new item, which is the reason for the overall lower rating.

Beautiful, quality leather planner!
Beautiful, soft, refillable leather planner. Excellent quality, came beautifully packaged. I absolutely love the color - Kingfish. Because of the lighting some Of my pics make it appear blue but it is the color you see in the picture from Amazon. It came with planner pages that were just fine but I had already found pretty Kathy Davis planner refills that, as you can see from the picture, are perfect colors for this planner. (I am all about matching and color coordination!) I already had a Kate Spade leather planner but it is heavy, has a zipper closure which is bothersome and makes it difficult to comfortably use the planner. Looking around on Amazon and Google I found out about Filofax and am so happy I did. I checked them out at my local Vroman’s then was able to find it on Amazon. It does have some weight to it because of the metal rings, but the quality is amazing. It doesn’t lie flat yet but probably because it is new. So glad I bought it!

It's a good notebook, but...
This is a gorgeous binder - the leather is soft & supple. That being said, it's not a hardcover. It would be challenging to take notes on a surface that's not a desk. The color isn't nearly as bright & fuchsia-y as shown in the picture. It's more a muted pink-y purple-y color, more purple than pink. (The picture shown looks more pink than purple to me.) I don't *love* the color, but I'll keep it.The binder rings are much larger than I thought they would be, given some of the comments. They're 1" or so and will be able to hold a lot of paper. I haven't quite figured out how I'll arrange everything. I am trying to use this as a bujo. The inserts include a two-page weekly view (no month view), contacts (threw this away), personal information page (threw this away also), a few grid pages, a few blank pages, and a bunch of colored, lined paper. The dotted grid paper costs $11 for 50 pages, which would start to add up if I created daily and monthly pages. I think I might need to buy another notebook for dailies (sigh) and keep only notes in this notebook. The original intent was to keep everything in one notebook. Still deciding whether this makes sense...

Absolutely love this planner!
I tried for years to do everything on my computer and phone. But after missing a few appointments I decided to go back to the old fashioned way of writing everything down. There are several pockets on the front cover to store items although credit cards may come out to easily, but I don't store any in the planner. The planner comes with an assortment of pages, calendar, and inserts. I wasn't sure what it came with so I bought a lot of paper/pages at the beginning but didn't end up needing them. I don't use the calendar that came with it. Instead I found one on etsy to use. The size of the planner works with half a sheet of 8.5x11" cut in half and hole punched. The size of the rings are big enough that I can hold a lot of papers and turn the pages without an issue. Some other planners seemed like the rings were too small. The color purple is a little redder than I expected when I got it but it is still a very pretty purple. The leather has been holding up well over the last few months but it does show some scratches. Overall this is a really nice planner and I'm glad I purchased it.

Nice
This is the second planner of this style and color I got. I bought this one for my mom. Mine that I've had for a few years is darker in color, alil softer and more floppy. This one that came in the mail today I noticed was lighter in color, seems alil stiff, and the flyleaf is defiantly not the orginal one that its suppose to come with. That being said after messing with the filofax and bending it alil here and there it got more movable/floppy. I like this filofax that came don't get me wrong, its very nice. But you need to be aware its leather and no two are usually going to look a like.

I want it in different colors/sizes
I love the Filofax Malden! I only have a personal size in the color stone, but I want it in Ochre too! And both in pocket size that’s how much I like this!i use mine strictly as a planner/journal but I think it makes a great cash envelope wallet if you punch the side of your envelopes, with a couple card slots and the little zipper pocket for a small amount of change.

great leather, worst paper
The quality of the cover leather looks and feels great, is very soft to the touch, and seems durable too. However, the paper inside is the worst paper I've seen. Fountain pens seem to be bleeding on the paper, uni-ball gel pen has broken strikes. Have to buy new refill papers to replace those.
