Does the job easily
Had to replace my OLD harbor freight spring compressor that stripped. This one works MUCH better and much easier. Worth the price.

It did the job!
Used this to compress the strut springs on my Tundra. It was very ez to use and I felt very safewhile doing the job. Some friends said they wouldn't use it, glad I didn't listen to them. When used as directed it is very safe.

This worked well.
This mostly did what I expected. It could have a couple of design changes for my application. It wanted to slide on the spring, it would be nice to have a safe way to hold onto the bottom of the strut. My springs are not tall, it would have worked much better if there were more coils on the spring.

They worked on Mazda Protege springs.
The amount of energy in compressed springs scares the hell out of me. I felt better with the fact that these have locking pins and that they snap -positively- into position and stay there. This set did a good job compressing all four coil springs on my 1995 Mazda Protege when it was time to replace the shock absorbers. I'm pleased with this purchase.

Great for ATV Suspension
Pro’s - solid - nice case - works as advertised- end accepts 1/2” socket - worked great for ATV suspension - priceCons - got a metal sliver taking it out of the case, must have never been cleaned after threading - d rings / loops that hold the retainer pins in aren’t the best, retainer pins are a little extra snug.

Worked perfectly.
I've used a rented set in the past but the price and decent reviews convinced me to buy this set. Good decision. Compressing strut springs can be dangerous but these never left me wondering if something was going to slip or break. They worked exactly how I expected them to. Thank you.

Not a good tool for BMW 3 series
I bought this tool to change the struts on my 1998 BMW 323is. The tool could not grab onto the springs in such a way as to fully unload the top plate, so I had to compress the spring, disassemble the strut, release the spring, re-compress grabbing one more coil, assemble the strut, release the spring as far as it would go, then fully remove the lead screw from one side and hammer the clamps loose from the spring. The tool is very sturdy and got the job done, but if I had to do it over I would break with the bigger bucks for a floor mount strut compressor and skip the 3 hour workout. The clamps do not account for the helical shape of the springs, so they slide around a bit until you get some tension on them. Once you get them started they work pretty well, and thread easily in both directions. The only issue other than above is they tend to interfere with the spring seat which wears on the threads a bit. Good enough for using on one or two cars. Not sure how long these would last, but anyone planning on changing struts on more than one car should buy a floor mounted compressor. btw - the pins worked great for me…they even lock in place. Not sure what all the negative comments are about. If you don’t lock them they can be a pain, but they lock and unlock easily.
