no volume controle
i have given one star because of the most important thing to a mp3 player volume control and this completely has no such action so you have to listen to a low level. it is the only music player i know of that you can not turn up or down the volume

You can view the albums to select songs, if you know how!
My daughter (6) absolutely loves this! She hasn’t put it down since opening it. And I’ve not recharged it yet! I almost returned it though as couldn’t figure out how to find songs without skipping through all of them one by one! Tip: when playing music, PAUSE IT, then press menu, then select local folder to go up and down through albums and folders. I created folders within the player (on the pc) for audio books/ pop/ musicals, etc which made it easier to navigate still. To get music onto this is super easy with windows media player. Finding music could be easier, but you can at least search it without skipping through. The user interface is ugly, but my daughter doesn’t seem to have noticed (and she is not at all tech savvy). Can’t be beaten for the price.

Fantastic birthday present for my 9 year old
We bought it for my 9 year old son's birthday present. He was so excited to have his own device to listen to music and stories. As a parent, I am happy that it's not too fancy with picture taking or WiFi, as I want him to be able to use it unsupervised as well as not be distracted with sophisticated features. My only criticism is that it's difficult to use. It takes time to figure out the songs and tracks. My son can get frustrated, but for that price I can't really complain! It took time, but we figured out there is volume control, as I read in a review that there wasn't.The battery power is amazing. It's a shame that he can't listen on loud, because he has difficulty with ear phones, but we can always attach it to speakers.

Purchased in July Now packed up
It worked fine for me - up until a couple of weeks ago. I used it in my car (was always plugged in), and kept getting the message "USB Error". Tried another USB lead, tried charging it up. No go.Finally plugged into PC to see if anything showed there and PC won't recognise it any more. Have plugged it in again and the screen is showing (for the past 8 hours) "Searching........10%". Well, that's useful!I would return it - as I assumed that it had 12 months warranty - but the returns window is closed! What's that all about?Bit disappointed and somewhat irritated that something with such a basic circuit board would only last 5 - 6 months.
