Usable as an OpnSense Firewall Appliance -- an example of how not to engineer something
+6months edit -This has been nothing but an ongoing struggle to get it to work properly. Don't go by servethehome reviews going gaga about this unit (he is a shill for such companies) read the forums. Its sadly a case of great components -- intel nics, intel atoms -- marred by idiots assembling them (how somebody can botch such a simple product is remarkable, you have to train somebody to do so many mistakes). The whole thermal solution on this is laugable. It has a so called "special" cooling solution -- ice something. This happens to be a tiny copper slug which is screwed onto an aluminium chassis. After a lot of significant deburr holes sanding then giving up and replacing the darn copper thing there was finally a good thermal connection to the tiny chasis. But then guess what the only thing pressing the chip (which is bare die ) onto the copper slug is the pcb which again is hard screwed back to the chassis (at least use a spring load somewhere oh great engineer). The pcb flexes over a period of time and the die progressively loses thermal contact over a long period of time. So guess what over a period of months the temp slowly keeps going up. Needless to say if you are willing to take the board clean up the mess remount everything properly it works great. But if you are not into learning how not to engineer a product just don't buy this junk. Also drop by serve the home you tube and complain that this is junk !-- previous reviewThis box is worth a look if you are looking for a Jasper Lake ( 10nm ATOM) box with Quad Intel 2.5G NICs.KingnovyPC color me impressed with the quality of the components and assembly of the box. Bought the barebones version.Impressions:- Works well with TemGroup DDR4 16G Kit (2 x 8G) + SSD Intel 670p (512G)- Intel Quad 2.5G NIC. Zero issues using as an OpnSense Appliance. Routes 2.5G traffic between pair of ports without issues.- Is fanless so runs hot if run in constrained places (running 60C acpi thermal, 70-80C coretemp sensors)Of some interest, has an Interesting edge Heat Sink profile (allows you to fit it on rails). Fan cooling the device is probably needed if you are planning on using this in a hot ambinet.

Quality
After trying several different routers and Mini PC units I took a chance and tried this Firewall Appliance. The manufacturer doesn't supply much of any documentation (hope they are reading this), but the hardware is solid and after reinstalling PFsense 2.60 it's making a good impression on me. I'm picky when it comes to computer hardware and I don't like spending hundreds of dollars for something that doesn't work right or isn't documented properly (mor than just 5 paragraphs). The appliance took the 2x 8 Gb DDR4 SODIMMs from crucial with absolutely no problems and hasn't yet complained or produced any problems. Internet connections are consistently fast (+- 890 Mbs) with a Gigabit line from Optimum/Suddenlink. PFsense 2.60 is really super to work with, but you should understand computer Hardware and Software if you want to make changes of any sort because things can and will go wrong when it comes to the internet. But even if you are a computer novice, with patience and a little knowhow you can have the firewall up and running in no time. VPN will be tested in a few days after the initial burn-in of the hardware so that the initial setup changes I made are not causing problems and doesn't cloud what is actually happening with connections and speed while using VPN. I updated everything in my network to 2.5 GBASE-T hardware with CAT 6 cables and the speeds are really worth it. This was a good buy and I'm happy. I'm just hoping that everything is still working a few years down the road and the investment loop can be slowed down. More updates in a few weeks.UPDATE: 02/04/2023The unit is still running strong without errors. Finally an investment that paid off in terms of reliability.

Working great
I've had this in production with pfSense well over a month now with zero issues. Everything came as described.
