Crisp Picture and Easy to Install
The media could not be loaded. I've had dash cams for about 12 years now after an event where someone stopped in front of me, got out and started yelling at me claiming I hit him. Literally 2 cars in between us in slow moving traffic but this person was convinced he felt a bump of being hit. After that event I got a camera and since then Ive only been in one accident (rear ended) and my camera at the time didnt capture it because it was front facing. So.. I got this dual camera setup for better coverage. The good:-The picture quality is very good on this, both front and back look great. A big improvement over my Yi Smart Dash camera.- Sound quality is really good. Even with music blaring its very clear.-This is my first dual camera setup and the install was really easy.. when I ordered it I was on the edge of thinking I wouldnt even install the rear camera myself, but within literally 15 minutes I had the front cam installed and in another 6 minutes I had the rear camera installed. The wire tucks neatly into the weather stripping and roof liner.. I did not need to pull my liner and I think for most Subaru models this would be the case (I am a Subaru Ambassador, I've been in a lot of them).- This is my first camera with GPS, and it works. I have my location and speed embedded into the video.- 5.0 ghz wifi means I can actually stream a video without buffering from the dashcam, unlike my previous 2 cameras from another brand.- The app actually works, it even identified that I had a VPN turned on once and reminded me to turn it off to connect. I am using a Galaxy S22 Ultra on Android 13 for reference.Things to Improve:-The power cable was not long enough to reach my center console/arm rest 12v plug. My work around was to use a spare 10ish foot USB-C cable I had lying around and also attached a USB Extension cable to that. Then I could plug it into my cars 2.4amp USB port. I think Vantrue sould ditch the cable built into a 12v socket and separate them. For one, without the power brick attached you could start from the camera and install towards the power socket and if you don't reach just add a USB extension. Second, it takes away your ability to use a higher amp fast charging USB 12v adapter by occupying the slot.- Something I found strange from my previous cameras is that this one will not turn on wifi while recording. My other cameras always had wifi on so you didnt need to touch the camera. On this model you need to press a button to stop recording, then long press a button to open up the wifi menu, then press on 5.0ghz to turn on wifi. It literally takes 5 seconds, but it something that could be improved. I kind of wanted to use the rear facing camera as a backup monitor while driving with a trailer to get a better look at what I am hauling since my salt shield blocks my mirror view. I cant really do that with this.- This is a nit pick, but I like my camera being as hidden as possible and this one has a glossy front around the camera that reflects light. I could see others who would disagree on wanting it to be hidden.Summary:Overall, the camera rocks. I tend to find and pick apart every little issue on stuff I buy and I didnt find much that really mattered. The power cable issue was a one time quick cable swap and doesnt matter for the next 4-5 years at this point. The picture quality and how well it transfers files via wifi more than make up the other little things. I was planning on putting my old dashcamera in my wifes Subaru Forester, but with how easy the rear camera installs, I might just buy another one of these for full coverage. The video attached is my setup on a 2019 Subaru WRX, but it would apply to most Subaru's since the interior designs are so similar and used for decades.

Great features, a step above other dashcams!
Wow, this is a great product! Let me first start by saying I have quite a history with dashcams. I started with an inexpensive Aketek one nearly 10 years ago, from there upgraded to YI, then to Viofo, then finally to Vantrue. This product in my limited testing beats all those units easily hands down. If you’re buying from any reliable brand these typically will last years and years and the reason you upgrade is video quality/reliability or you’re looking for new features, which is the reason I purchased this one.In California one of the most common issues with dashcams is how they deal with the heat (I park on the street) and the other is they continually cycle through/eat up SD cards. So far, I’ve had zero issues with the E2 so far, we will see how it holds up over time in the California heat. One of the major reasons I upgraded were the features of the Vantrue E2 compared to my prior Viofo A129 was smart parking mode. As mentioned before, I park my car on the street and on my Viofo failed to capture some damage that was done to my car overnight in the past (I included a photo) . It also continually had false positives and it would lock footage from being deleted just from driving over a bump in the road despite the highest collision/sensor settings being selected. This was such an annoyance/concern for me I will be purchasing the hardware kit for the Vantrue to prevent any future mishaps. If this camera saves you from literally one incident it’s already paid for itself. I included photos of day, mid-day, night views.I found it super easy to install both the front and rear cameras in my car given the included install tool (usually you have to purchase this separately), just slightly lift trim, tuck cable, done. Camera is fairly low profile and sleek, easy to mount in a safe spot near rear windshield that isn’t super obvious to anyone outside of the car. The included power adapter is really nice and allows for you to charge your phone at the same time. Even the packaging was nice!Overall, the E2 was fairly user friendly in terms of navigating menus, activating Wi-Fi etc. On other cameras sometimes connecting via my phone was a challenge in the past. My favorite feature probably overall is the voice control. I ALWAYS drive with the screen off to not annoy passengers in my car, some other cameras have an auto off feature after a certain amount of time, but with the E2 you just give it a voice command to turn it off. I haven’t needed to use voice commands save video or photos so far, but I assume it works in the same way.Overall, this was a pretty big upgrade from dashcams I’ve used in the past and I highly recommend it. Compared to previous cameras I’ve used the video quality is higher, it features a wider-angle lens (super important if you ever have to prove fault in an accident) and has easier to use features. I don’t think you could go wrong with this dash-cam even if you aren’t a tech savvy person. I like it so far, and as I mentioned before we’ll see how it handles the California summer heat.

VANTRUE Element 2 is a great front and rear dash camera with voice control!
The Vantrue Element 2 dash cam was very easy to install and get up and running. I did this in my garage in about 30 minutes. I installed it into my BMW. The fit and finish of the product compliments the beautiful interior of my car. The unit also has Parking Monitor capability, with front and rear cameras, something that I was looking for when taking trips in my car. My car has a power point available that leaves power on when the car is off, which is something to keep in mind. Although all cars have power available from inside the fuse panel or power tap kits for the rear view mirror. The unboxing shown in my pictures shows the very nice packaging and protection of this unit. It is very solidly built and you can feel the quality while setting out the parts. The video quality is excellent on both the camera screen and on the app, which I installed on my iPhone 13. Having the app is very convenient. Turning the iPhone to landscape mode increases the picture size nicely. You can control the dash cam from the cell phone app.The dash cam has a small remote that you can keep nearby to trigger a picture or to use voice control, as an example. Speaking of voice control, the microphone on the unit is pretty good and reacted to my requests with almost zero lag time, without using the remote.I would definitely recommend this front and rear dash cam to anyone looking for peace of mind, great quality and ease of use. Install it, set up the options and forget about it.
