Potato Peeler by Bon Elite - Super Sharp Ceramic Blade - White

I use this peeler mostly for peeling potatoes and carrots. It works well most of the time--it's definitely sharp. Occasionally, it gets hung up on the carrots because it grabs too much peel. I thought it was just me because this is the first peeler of this type I've purchased and I'm still getting used to it, but my sister (who uses this type of peeler all the time without issue) was using it the other day, and it did the same thing to her. I've also noticed that if my potatoes are starting to get a little soft, it has a hard time grabbing the peel; on hard potatoes, it works fine. I do like it for adding shredded carrots to my salads. The standard vegetable peeler I'd been using gave me tiny, thin strips; I can get thicker, wider strips with this peeler. For the most part, I like it, but I do find myself reverting to a small paring knife at times because it's faster and easier to use than this peeler (I admit that could be due to my lack of experience with this type of peeler).

I received my new Bon Elite Ceramic Peeler today and was taken back by the exceptional quality of the product. Since it is ceramic it is very sharp and sturdy. The packaging the peeler came in was easy to open and high quality which was representative of the peeler itself. The first thing I tried it on was a potato and the result was superb! Since it is ceramic it won't rust or discolor. It is such an attractive piece I intend to display it openly on my cabinet wall! I also appreciate that this peeler has a lifetime guarantee. However, I don't anticipate that I will have a need to use it. I look forward to any other items that Bon Elite may offer in the future that will compliment this great product. It is a pleasure to be able to find such a quality product in today's environment.

I don't peel a lot of vegetables, so I wasn't sure about ordering this peeler. However, the peelers I bought locally (metal blades), made it too much work to peel a yam. I've always loved roses, so I figured I could use this to brighten up the kitchen, even if it turned out not to be an improvement as far as the actual peeling went. I'm very glad I bought this. It's a beatiful tool, and the ceramic blade makes peeling so much easier than the peelers I had been using. I'm keeping it in the original packaging between uses, at least for now, as the lifetime warranty requires return in the original package. How many of us keep the package something like this comes in? Keeping it in the box may also keep it from getting chipped by other tools.

It caught my eye on Amazon because of its rose design and my wife loves roses and it looked even better fresh out of the box. First thing I noticed was how nicely balanced it was in my hand. Lots of those steel peelers are just too lightweight, but this BonElite peeler feels like it has some heft to it. We put it to use peeling potatoes for dinner and was impressed at the sharpness of the blade. The potato skins came off like butter. Today I used it for peeling carrots--same result. When done I just popped it into the dishwasher,something we couldn't do with our steel peelers with rubber handles. And it won't rust like those steel blades do. This product is on my gift list (it comes in a very nice gift box) for birthdays, Christmas and small mementos.

Bought this on account of all the 5* reviews. It looks like I will be the first one to give this peeler a 3* review. It was ok, no better than the old Kitchenaid peeler we already had, and not nearly as good as the messermeister serrated. It is just not that sharp. Works fine on carrots, but then almost any cheap peeler can peel carrots. Try a peach or butternut squash, and this peeler does not work well. Returned.

I want to love this thing, but the white blade pops out fairly easily when doing big peeling jobs. I have to consciously be sure to hold the little pins in on the sides to keep the blade, which is annoying. When it first happened, I thought I broke it - but soon realized that it just pops in and out with little pin holders. Great for cleaning, bad for tough jobs.

Began peeling a carrot (second on their list of suggested uses), and it caught and was jagged but did not peel. A second later, this blade, same as the other, was on the floor. Too bad because it is a lovely, albeit useless, kitchen tool.

Works well on potatoes but not so good on carrots.... not sure why. I had expected more from this peeler but will keep to use for potatoes. To be totally fair, I haven't tried it on all veggies yet so will keep it and maybe have a different opinion after using it more.
