Proper spacing issues and weird jokes that No one questions for some reason
The story isn’t bad but the Most glaring issue I have is the spacing between words and he changed the set up of the item information boxes which now take up a significant portion of a page each time he decides to lay down the mc’s skills .. Changing up the text boxes is not my issue. Finding something that sort of worked in the first book completely disregarding and changing it for the second book and not realizing that it made reading worse as it took up more space. It seems that the author was just trying to get as many pages published as possible. Maybe his author was pressuring him a bit too much on the deadline. Either way it seems rushed. The MC at the end of the second book has absolutely no direction. He has a settlement he has people but continually makes stupid decisions (Who flashes a couple hundred precious gems and assorted stones in the middle of a city.? Especially a vaguely divided by species/race city of which regardless of his own skin color he is of the dominant race keeping the rest of the races in check so to speak. And that domination and unfair criminalization of other species has absolutely no consequences simply because oh they are nobles. You’re telling me nobody has ever hired an assassin? Not to mention leaving an entire city defenseless simply so you can find your soulmate which all you needed to do was wait eight hours and then cast the spell but no I got to do that right now let’s not think it over ) There is reckless and then there is whatever that is. As for the lack of direction with nothing other than get a Forge, get a boat, and the fact that without Randolphus he would literally not have anything set up in his city yet he continues to make fun of the one person that is able to run the city while you were gone?????? since you clearly don’t know how to run a city!! and He still hasn’t dealt with anything close to another chaos seed or even finding out what a chaos seed is exactly…. Or brought up the fact that he is one or how that affects the plot. Everything is driven by gold which just lands into his bag of holding that was paid for with Jewels that reasonably should have been taken by the orc( excuse me goblin king) with a necromancer. So far our enemy has been necromancers other than the more recent flesh eating bugs. There’s a passage in the second book that even states from the lore book that the individual is responsible for how they use the power and the power of life death etc is neutral and it is up to the individual caster how they use it but we get continuous necromancers that are the scourge of nations. Not to mention the scourge of atrocious spacing!!! And no one has questioned the odd statements that he makes? #Trustingfools . These same fools that let him die simply because he was human. We see nothing else on the racial tensions. Excuse me species tensions other than scion letting Richter die. We literally enter a divided city and the only thing we get is an honorable mention about a noble flaunting his power to get a plaything. Which granted is atrocious but happens in every single book that has a noble( generally speaking genre wise) this one just happens to fancy an elf because they exist in this realm

Great series
Love the plot, the different levels and there explanations, the story one is also refreshing. I'm getting little sleep after starting each book. Helps my insomnia though. Keep up the good work

A great installment in the series
This was a great read, building on everything that was enjoyable in the first book. Aleron Kong is clearly growing as an author. He keeps the reader's interest throughout the book and as the character has grown, as the stage has widened, the challenges have exceeded any growth by a wide margin. The author has succeeded in maintaining dramatic tension. The character seems to have more to lose, to be on the precipice of greater success or heartache with each chapter, which is a nice balancing act. In many stories in the genre, the mechanics overwhelm or the gains become increasingly pointless. Not so, here.Aleron Kong has avoided many of the pitfalls of the genre, deftly balancing character growth and world-building with challenge that adds to the dramatic tension. This is a nice trick, considering we generally know the conventions of the genre, which usually means we know what to expect next.. but not so much here. Forging is like watching a poker tournament where the game started with a spotlight on one table, where the tournament has 128 tables with 8 players each. In the first book the main character made it past the first round. He has some winnings from the first round but the stakes just keep increasing. In poker, as they say, you're playing your opponents. Here, in round two, every one seated at the table was a winner from the first round. His opponents are smarter. There are familiar characters from the first round, but interesting new characters from this table, and some glimpse into the challenges he'll face if he makes it past this round. The outcome is becoming more highly speculative.Every now and then the main characters play smart for a few hands and then the author has them go all in, putting everything on the table. It's fun to watch the characters lose a hand, now and then, watch the interplay between the characters as they fold a hand or raise the ante. It's fun watching the author double the blinds. It's fun to watch the author throw an interesting prize into the center of the table that changes the game ...I'm looking forward to Alliances, the next installment in the series.

Amazing book
List of likes is endless. Lit RPG is an amazing genre and this series captures the feeling of new discoveries and grinding levels in a pleasing manner. There are 2 downsides of note that I feel obligated to note. In this kindle version, the status page for the character did not follow the format of the first book, where different categories were sectioned off in rows and columns of a table. It was just listed as one continuous essay. This cost the book half a star as the character’s status page is a key detail that I look forward to reading. The second downside is some of the dialogue which the main character speaks. It does not reflect his age in the slightest. His response at one point was, “Derrrrrrrr....,” which made me feel like I was reading more of a children’s book. I definitely am not suggesting that the book should use expletives or other similar devices to appeal to a mature audience, just to avoid something as childish as calling someone a, “butt.” This cost the book the second half star to total a 4 star rating. All this being said I cannot wait to read the remaining books. Cheers to Aleron Kong.

This is good
This second book is a masterpiece. From character building, to plot development, to the design of the riddles, traps, all the thought put in the dungeon... I am amazed. The beginning, for me, was slow. I was so high in the fight from the action on the first book, that I was expecting action from start to finish, so it was a shock when that was not what I got. That is on me. But then, when things started to get heated it was one after the other and it was glorious. The dungeon in this book is so well developed, with so many ramifications... Really good! And the ending I have no words to express how much anxiety it would give me have I had to wait for the third book. I can’t wait to read more!

4*
I struggled with the first 45% but not sure why as I loved the first book in theSeries. I'm so glad I persisted though as I ended up enjoying this more than the first one. I never give spoilers in my reviews I just leave a star rating and a brief description of what I enjoyed or disliked. I think most fantasy fans will enjoy this regardless of the RPG aspects of the book, so don't let that put you off. Even if these books didn't have the RPG aspects in the book it would still be a very good book. All in all a very good read , likeable characters and very good world building. Read it, what's not to like.

A great book in an interesting new genre.
A great book in an interesting new genre. I am a long-time RPG player (both paper and computer) and an avid ready of sci-fi / fantasy novels for 40+ years . This genre (and this book specifically) really scratched an itch I didn't even know I had! The book is straightforward and fun with all the elements you remember best from RPG games: adventure, magic, medieval combat, progression, quests, dungeons and of course ... LOOT!It is fairly well written (the few mistakes are forgivable) and the adventure is reminiscent of some of the royalty of fantasy authors, without losing the quirky litRPG feel.If you like RPG and you like fantasy writing this is a no-brainer. Strongly recommended.
