You are buying an 8x disposable monocular. DEFINETLY NOT 16X.
THE GOOD:Very light, makes it a convenient accessory for a day hike.Focus works as expected.Comes with a case and lanyard. It's 10 dollars...THE BAD:I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes useless after a 2 foot drop although I'm not willing to test this because I'm returning it.DEFINITELY NOT 16X. I am very surprised people just believe what this claims to be. This is somewhere between 8x and 10x based on comparisons with other, higher quality optics. The image is heavily distorted. No dust caps.No tripod attachment.CONCLUSION:It's low cost, compact, and lightweight attributes are due to lack of proper lenses to correct distortion and have a true 16x magnification. Stay away from this product unless you intend to purchase a disposable 8x monocular.1 star for incorrect product description. Advertise this as 8x and It would have been 4 stars.

Decent for the money, fairly large/heavy, belt loop stitching immediately failed
I have a couple of fairly small monoculars for hiking; this is big enough that I wouldn't care to hike a lot with it, and related to some other review comments I haven't tried to somehow measure whether it's really 16 x 52. Well, I can easily measure the 52 part, and that's clearly not right --- it's about 40 mm looking into the large lense. So I tend to believe the other reviews that say that you're not getting 16x magnification either.Still, so long as you understand the size and weight of the thing, I think it's good for the price. Size: just under 6" long, outer diameter at widest point about 2", case is roughly 6" x 2-1/2" wide by 2" 'deep'. Weight: 8 oz even for the monocular, 8.7 oz in the included case.My big beef with this --- why I give it 3 stars rather than 4 --- is that the very first time I tried to use it was in kayaking. I put a strap from my life vest through the belt loop and as soon as I stood up it immediately fell to the ground. The stitching on the belt loop was that poor that it immediately failed as soon as the weight of the item was put on the stitching. So for quality control I'd give them a minus 5 stars. I really want a reliable attachment loop so will fiddle with a small needle to try to hand stitch it in place working sort of inside the item --- what a (needless) hassle. More to the point, I'm fortunate that it didn't fall off and into the water while I was kayaking. Don't rely on their belt loop, test it first.

this is a terrific choice. I find binoculars too big and clunky
For the money, this is a terrific choice. I find binoculars too big and clunky; affordable, pocket-size versions aren't strong enough for my needs. This monocular telescope combines the advantages of a smaller size, a great price and enough light and acuity for me to watch birds at what I estimate to be a couple hundred feet away. The strap and carrying case add to the grab-and-go convenience of this item.

It doesn't feel like I have a full range of focus
It doesn't feel like I have a full range of focus, I am usually set at FULL left or just slightly off FULL left, but it gives me a quick and cheap way to check my surrounding while kayaking in the open water. and for $13 I can afford to lose a couple overboard

MUCH larger than anticipated.
The quality seems well built. However, the item is MUCH larger than anticipated. I would have returned it, but the shipping totaled to almost $7, meaning I would only get back $5; might as well keep it for that. I wanted something very portable (pocket sized), this will need to be stored in a larger compartment (purse, backpack, etc.).

Terrible optics with lots of blur everywhere in your view ...
Terrible optics with lots of blur everywhere in your view except dead center. I will keep it for a cheap spotting scope in my truck but not worth much more than that.
