LU87R006M20: 160mm Thin Kerf Rip Blade

I mill my own wood but using a circular saw to edge and straighten the planks was too time consuming and the clean up was even worse so I began using my track saw. The problem with the Festool TS55 is the standard blade has a hard time going through my freshly milled stack of lumber so I had to make multiple passes, which led to lost time and extra wear on the saw's motor. I decided to change out the blade to a special ripping one and this made all of the difference. I am able to rip through 2" Elm and Ash with a single pass and not bog the saw down. Along with using the track saw, I am able to quickly cut my planks down to the desired widths.

Great blade for my Makita track saw. I use it to cut a few rips in some 6 foot long 2 inch thick hardwood. I always make two passes when anything is over an inch. The 2 cuts were seamless And almost glue. I’m impressed with this blade at its price range. I would buy it again.

I was never happy with my Makita SP6000J1 track saw. I didn’t even want to use it. It would bind while being forced down the track. The wood, even pine, would burn and the blade would cut a wonky angle exiting the cut. Wanting and needing to use this expensive tool, I switched out the blade to this Freud 160mm blade and it was like a miracle. My track was now cuts fast without having to force it down the track. No more burned edges either. If you get a great Makita track saw, save yourself some headache and ditch the stock Makita blade.

I bought a Makita tracksaw for intermidiate to high-ish level woodworking. I almost regretted purchasing the tracksaw because I was trying to rip hardwood boards with a crosscut style blade. I put this blade on and it gave a very accurate glue ready cut through 8/4 white oak boards 8' long.I made one pass through the boards. I didn't want to risk minor movements by taking several passes. no binding. no burning. no issues. As with most projects, the proper preperations along with the appropriate tool for the job is needed for success. It's not the wand, it's the wizard. It's not the arrow, it's the archer.

I'm using fossilized bamboo from calibamboo. It's rated 5000+ janka and is the hardest wood flooring in the world. I've tried a few regular blades for ripping the boards and they get nowhere. To rip a full length would take 2 min of cutting as the blades would slowly get through it. This blade is incredible and is ripping the boards in about 15-20 seconds. It melts them compared to other blades. I also haven't seen the blade get dull or damaged until I start hitting some nails in subflooring on another project. That said, the blade isn't rated well for metal (nails) so it's my fault, not the blade. All in all, incredible blade, the strongest you can find for ripping tough hardwood flooring planks.

Sliced through 1 1/2" purple heart (extremely hard wood) like butter. The factory blade in the Kreg track saw is great but this blade is amazing. It cuts so easily I no longer have problems with very small pieces moving under the track. Almost no cutting resistance and even better dust removal. The cuts are slightly coarser but its negligible.

I use this with a Makita cordless track saw. It works very well to put a straight edge on a board without burning but it will leave some blade marks as shown in the picture (black chalk was used to exaggerate the marks, the wood is maple). Compared to the Makita general purpose blade (which is the closest native blade) this cuts with much less effort. The only downside is that the kerf is slightly wider than the Makita blades so splinter guard will be ever so slightly off the cut line if you switch back.

For the price you can’t beat these blades. Been using them for years. I have a professional cabinet shop and I replace them about 4-5 times a year. I’m sure there are some others that last longer but they are probably 4x the price. You can’t beat these for the price.
