STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE FOR SUCCESSFUL CALIBRATION 1. Rinse electrode in distilled water and dry off so it's clean. 2. Prepare 2 cups of water in separate containers (distilled is ideal). 2. For both cups, use water with temperature of 77 F (25 C) or just under. You could heat some water and gradually mix with room temperature or colder water until 77 F (or 25 C) is achieved. 3. Empty buffer powders in water cups - 1 sachet per cup; do not mix powders. 4. Switch on pH meter. 5. FIRST, immerse electrode in 6.86 solution for 1-2 minutes, allowing reading to stabilize. Regulate trimmer with screwdriver until reading corresponds to pH buffer (6.86). 6. Clean electrode in distilled water, dry it off, turn it off, and then back on. 7. Immerse electrode in 4.01 solution for 1-2 minutes, allowing reading to stabilize. Regulate trimmer with screwdriver until reading corresponds to pH buffer (4.01). 8. Clean electrode in distilled water. It's ok to leave it a little moist. 9. Switch it off and your pH meter is ready to use. TROUBLESHOOTING READING "JUMPS AROUND": Typically due to improper calibration. Please review above steps. READING "DRIFTS": Can be due to large volume of liquid or cold temperatures. Use smaller sample of liquid, and/or measure at room temperature. NOT WORKING: Often due to unclean electrode. Clean tip between readings WITH distilled water. CAN'T SEEM TO CALIBRATE: Calibration is necessary. Be sure to follow above steps carefully and in order presented. Use fresh buffer solution and distilled water, try changing batteries, and/or reset tester.
