I like this mask! Here are the pros and cons.
I’ve actually been looking forward to writing a review for this mask. As a healthcare provider for the past 23 years, I’ve tried various forms of PPE and I bought this mask specifically to wear while I play golf. Golf is a naturally distanced sport as far as sports go - but 4 people nonetheless gather at the tee box and on the green. The driving range is often crowded these days and mask compliance is sketchy at times so I really need/want to feel protected while I play. I had been playing with some combination of procedural masks, traditional N95s and cloth (not very protective) but none were the slightest bit pleasing due to the fog on my glasses, shortness of breath (I walk hilly courses and carry my bag) and the sweat-factor which often left the inside of my mask wet and truly gross.I had read the other reviews about this mask before purchase and decided to try it for myself with an open mind. When I received the item, the product box was in excellent shape but the plastic which encased the mask itself was badly cracked. I inspected the mask carefully and could find no damage to the product so I decided to keep it (rather than contributing to more global waste) but the packaging issue did concern me a bit.I’ve been wearing the mask now for about a week and a half. It’s been on several outings to the driving range, the golf course and on walks with the dog. At the end of the day, I love the mask and wish I had known about it sooner. It’s not perfect, but it is in fact a great improvement upon my previous options for multi-hour wear during light to moderate exercise. The weight of the mask is good. Yes, you’ll feel it because it’s a mask - but given the product weight to battery life ratio, I honestly think this is excellent. The silicone seal and straps are easy to disinfect with an alcohol prep, durable and comfortable. The light weight of the product may make it seem less durable at first glance, but the pieces are very well-constructed and there are minimal moving parts which decreases a likelihood of breakage. So far, I’ve found the battery life and charge time to be accurate per the description. I have removed and reattached the face seal several times during cleaning and have had no problem. There is zero fog on my glasses. The silicone warms to your skin so you may feel as if you don’t have a good seal when the mask is first placed on your face because it is colder than skin temperature; give it a couple of minutes for the mask to conform. I have found that the warming effect of the silicone combined with a subtle weight from the mask allows it to “sit” on my face and form a near-perfect seal after about 2 minutes. I am a female and would not find this type of mask to form an acceptable seal with much facial hair.I am neutral on the noise of the mask fan. It doesn’t bother me for recreation though I could never consider wearing this mask in a clinical setting as the noise would then be a major factor. It muffles your voice as any mask does and maybe slightly more. The only time someone has had trouble understanding me though, was when we were walking with traffic nearby. The fan blows a good amount of air at ambient temperature. If it is hot outside, you will be breathing hot air... which is WAY better than no air in my opinion, but it is a good expectation to have. The mask itself feels warm in warmer temperatures (it was 72 degrees today as I was exercising) but the warmth is not due to a lack of air.The fit of the straps was not great for me initially but I have learned to work with them fine. The ear-loop configuration is great for casual wear. For sports, a behind-the-head set up is recommended and I found this too tight with both the straps themselves or with using the included extender. Both options left huge imprints in my skin from the tension and I was not able to tolerate the fit for any length of time, so I opted for a soft toggle cord that I placed between the ear loops and I fasten at the nape of my neck. This is an easy way to adjust the mask securely and the cord doubles as a lanyard when I do not wish to have the mask on my face. The mask cover is attached by magnets. They work reasonably well though the cover has fallen off my mask twice now. Both times were during non-wear while the mask was attached to: 1) my golf bag; 2) a lanyard around my neck and it bumped against something. When worn as instructed, it adheres strongly. In a perfect world this would be great but I actually bought the pack of extra covers to ensure that I have one in the event that I lose the one that came with the mask (which I foresee as a realistic outcome eventually). The extras are offered in various colors which I wasn’t sold on until they arrived and it turns out that they look pretty good and I will enjoy having them.My one question about the mask has to do with the polyurethane exhalation filter. I know that this material is used regularly for all kinds of filtering applications. It is obviously lightweight, durable and easy to clean, but how effective is it really at filtering particulate matter in air? I am reasoning that it is probably not less effective than cloth masks and possibly (hopefully) more so... but it would be nice to know a PM filtration equivalent. This filter does need to be washed after wear because it collects saliva and gets wet with exercise.I like the protection. I like a lack of waste. I like the soft feel of the silicone and I am cool with looking a little like Darth Vader:). Not a factor for me personally. I find the mask comfortable for long-term wear and it holds securely in place during exercise. It has certainly made my life easier (and safer) during this past week. Overall, I give this 5 stars and would buy it again.

Ridiculously small , not suitable for an adult.
I really had high hopes, based on the feature set and pictures. In reality it is ridiculously small. Absolutely no way to fit it to an adult face. It may be OK for a small child, perhaps. It cannot seal correctly on an adult, because of the tinyness of the mask. Ponder this, before spending your money.Don't get me wrong, great idea, and nicely made. I would gladly pay the premium price if I could actually use it.I have an average face, I have no trouble fitting a 3M painter's cartridge respirator mask, but this is _much_ smaller. The product description claims this mask filters the exhaust air, I fail to see how.Maybe I got the "older version" of the product? The exhaust path appears to be sealed by a few flimsy silicone flaps at the bottom of the silicone seal under the chin. These flaps just lay against the exhaust openings on the outside, and I do not see anything there to filter the exhaust. Actually those flaps do not seem to seal out the incoming air all that well either. That alone would be a no-go for me, by itself.

2nd edition mask is definitely worth it!
So I originally bought the 1st edition of the UltraMasx. About a month after I bought it, it started to malfunction and stopped working entirely. But all in all, I’d say it was a good mask. It was a bit small on my face, but I was able to manage. The battery life was pretty good lasting me most of the day with my activities. Filtration seems top-notch. Fan speed was nice because it provided cool air while I was working out at the gym. I’d say functionally, it’s a great mask. 3.5/5 stars. But I had reached out to customer service due to the malfunction and they were extremely responsive. Gentleman named Ivan helped me out and he just asked for a little bit of evidence and he sent me out a replacement immediately. A 2nd edition at that. I can already tell the this new edition has vast improvements. Has all the technical aspects of the 1st, but also has a much better fit. They provide 2 sizes that can pretty much cater to any type of face. It’s much more comfortable and the filter cover seems to attach better. I’m just hoping that there aren’t any issues with this one because it’s definitely a 5/5 for me so far! I’d definitely recommend this new edition to anyone that would appreciate a technically sound mask. Will update if there are any problems.
