KilzAdhesion Primer, Interior/Exterior, 1 Quart

Keep in mind before buying, these are the smallest quart sized cans of paint! Given the size, I think the price is astronomical. It is good primer but I would look elsewhere.

Used this primer under door paint for a fiberglass door redo. It took two coats to get a uniform finish then black door paint on top. Excellent adhesion well worth the cost for a project that requires mostly time and labor which this door rehab needed.

Marked down one star because of price. 1 quart covered a 12×8 area with 2 very thin coats. Had a little bit left over. Kiltz Adhear drys white, so if you are using a dark top color ( like crandberry red), you may need 2 to 3 coats of your dark color on top of the Kiltz Adhear.I used Kiltz Adhear on an old 1939 concrete front porch, last painted with latex, with oil base under the latex (a big mess). I scraped and sanded as much old paint off as possible. In spots where concrete was exposed, I put on two coats of concrete sealant. This Kilts Adhear went on next, 2 very thin coats. Then two thin coats of Bear Acrylic on top of the Kiltz Adhear (mixed into the 1st coat of Bear acrylic, fine silicone beads for slight traction. Cured the top coat for 4 days. Then finished with 2 coats of low luster sealant (with a foam pad, on my hands and knees, outside temperature 65 degrees and about 45% humidity, to prevent the sealant from bubbling/foaming). Mailman laughed! A long procedure, but thinking this job will last a long time. We will see.

Even though it's called adhesion, and I sanded down to bare wood it scratched off easily after I put some self leveling furniture paint on over it. & some people say use Zinser Bins. Will never know, too late now, but next go round will try Zinser Read more
