FileMaker Pro 13 - English

Received item on time, it is as I ordered. Having a number of glitches trying to get all of our old information to mesh with this version using OS 8.

We're finally upgrading from Filemaker 5 as my wife recently graduated to OSX 10.8. This version of Filemaker has all sorts of very interesting features like being able to use an iPad to modify hosted databases that I have yet to explore. The install went very well but the upgrade of the database wasn't as smooth as I had hoped.For whatever reason, Filemaker 13 doesn't have import functions for older databases like our version 5. So one has to download a trial version of Filemaker 11 (which still had the requisite filters), import the database, save it as Filemaker 11, quit, start Filemaker 13 and import the Filemaker 11 file into Filemaker 13. Seems silly for a manufacturer of the code to omit imports for older programs if they already have the code and no further real maintenance of the code is necessary. I'm glad there was a workaround!So that's why the product only got 4 stars - backward compatibility should be a given. Otherwise, if you have to access an older database, how will you get at the data? Not everyone goes around updating their file formats constantly to ensure that every file they have ever worked on and may need in the future is on the latest and greatest standard. Filemaker / Apple is not alone in this issue, Microsoft and other entities are equally guilty of making access to older files much more challenging than it should be.

he software in and of itself is fantastic. However, IT DOES NOT WORK WITH MAC OS HIGH SIERRA!!!

Some of the features are gone from the last time I bought it for my old MAC, but still an exceptional database program. Very intuitive user interface. If you want to do web questionnaires and write stand alone apps get the more expensive version. It will furnish as complex reporting as you want to put together, and web publishing questionnaires and the like it is almost a breeze.

Tech support sucks and so does the instructional manual

Recently upgraded from an old 11-yr old iMac to the latest desktop one and had to upgrade everything, including FM. I was using Filmaker Pro 6, and the support team and on-line notes were very helpful in suggestions for the upgrade path to the current version, FM 13. I downloaded the FM 9 trial, upgraded everything to that, then purchased FM 13, and upgraded everything again to that…. no problems noted so far!!! Great product!!!

The only reason I rated it with 4 rather than 5 stars is because I have not had that much time to work with it.I know the program is good and works very well with both macs & pcs because we use it at work. It just takes a little time to figure out what and how you might want to do something.It is a very good program.

Software loaded Fine and worked on my MacBookPro. But, on my iMac (both have the same OS) Software kept crashing.So I thought I would pay for the upgrade to FM17 and discovered the FM13 I purchased was not recognized by FileMaker,therefore "not upgradeable" I believe this software is from China
