Worked well for my application; drilling a hole in a motorcycle gas tank cover. I suspect it will work fine in wood too. Don’t know about metal. The steps between sizes can be felt as you drill, it takes a little pressure to jump a size. The entire set was less expensive than one bit from the big name brands. Comes in a nice case. The Spring punch is a nice extra, mine was a bit rough to compress so I added a bit of lube to the shaft to smooth it out a bit.

They come on a cute mini suitcase. Very nice detail. If we by "what you pay is what you get," probably no the best step drill bit set, butt to drill on wood, plastic, soft metal, that kind, I am sure they will work just find. If ever I need to drill a hole on harder metal like steel, then I will use them with Tap oil.

bought these for drilling holes in lexan / plexiglass . using normal drill bits, the sheets are very prone to cracking.with these, i drilled dozens of holes of varying sizes with no problem at all

These are absolutely worth the money . I work in a metal fabrication shop and I plan to buy 2 more sets for my fellow workers if that tells you anything .They aren't a $40 or $50 name brand cobalt but . If you use them properly they will get the job done . I used cutting oil and a drill press to put a 7/8 hole in a 1/2 inch piece of steel for a trailer hitch ball and that one job paid for that bit. It still works well and for the money that's a good value in my book.

I needed a hole but Amazon doesn’t sell any holes. I searched and searched but they just were not available, SO, I had to purchase these nice hardened metal thingies, and make my own hole. It was a little work, but the hole they made was perfect. Now I can make my own hole again in the future any time I want, and I don’t need to buy them.

I purchased this kit to drill a single hole in a metal plate and it did that fine without any signs of damage or wear. As I haven't needed them much i cant speak for how well they will last with frequent use.They appear to be decent quality with the exception of the case they come in which although it looks nice it is flimsy. They should have just saved their money and sent them in a plastic case.

I always wanted to have these drills. It helps in quick projects, yes sometimes you need to drill starting hole, but then you can use it until you reach desired size. I like that they have carrying case. And as bonus got automatic center puncher. Have tried them on aluminum and plastic for now also thin metal sheet - going well.

I needed to enlarge a hole that was over 1" in diameter and had a notch at the edge of one point in the circle. A regular drill bit would most likely catch and be dangerous to try to use. The bit I used from this set worked flawlessly. Project completed quickly with the aid of this set of bits. Nice case to keep them safely stored as well.
