Love the item used for a painful thumb

I like the fact that I have full movement and can still do pretty much every day to day activity wearing it. It is less clumsy than a full brace and gives reasonable support and helps reduce pain. Very happy with it. I do wear the soft support (seen in the advertisement picture) underneath it which makes it more comfortable. Took a bit of getting used to and adjusting for the first hour or so. It is worth taking the time to get used to it.

I've had a painful thumb joint for quite a while now and felt that it needed some support. This looked ideal, and relatively unobtrusive. It comes with two velcro straps and a material support in the same shape. You can use this support on its own or under the main support if you think that'll work.The main element is the plastic support which fits around the base of your thumb, at the join with the palm. There's a soft metal band inside which allows you to alter the shape to make it more comfortable to direct support to exactly where it's needed. You also need to make sure you tighten the straps appropriately, so that they add to the stability of the main brace.As for effectiveness, in my case it definitely seems to have helped, although I feel that I may need stiffening support on the thumb itself. Depending on your needs, this could be ideal, so doing some research before purchase is best. I've taken a star off for the price, which I feel is pretty high for a relatively small piece of kit.

The point of this product is to act as a support brace for your thumb. It essentially allows your muscles and tendons to relax, as the product takes the weight of your thumb whilst keeping it in position. This is good in certain scenarios, but it's not a miracle cure by any means. It's good for tendonitis and cramps, as it allows your thumb to rest. For muscle weakness, however, this will only make the weakness worse as your muscles will be disused and will wilt away.It's quite small, which makes it great in terms of being able to use the rest of your hand and even wear gloves. However, it does make me wonder why it's so expensive for a small bit of plastic and some straps?Overall, I think this is a decent support brace for your thumb, but is very expensive for what it is. Would recommend only if you have severe thumb pain and no other brace seems to work
