The Time Between Dreams: How to Navigate Uncertainty in Your Life and Work Paperback – April 1, 2013

A life changer. Reading this book gave me the tools, the open thought process, and the nod of approval we all seek to really take a good look at my happiness level -- and if I was truly doing what I enjoyed. We all know that the most successful people are doing what they love and feel very content with themselves and their life choices. I wanted that! Well, Carol Vecchio helped me understand how. I felt like she was speaking directly to me as a friend ... she was sharing her experiences, her tips, her wisdom, and expertise. If I could, I'd have Carol over for dinner and invite all my friends and family, so they too could experience that epiphany. But instead, I am buying this book as a gift for each and everyone of them. As that is just what this book is -- A true gift.

My paperback edition is of poor quality. The pictures and diagrams in the margins throughout the book are blurry. Content is far from "life changing" or helpful. Lots of quotes from other "experts" presented as insights from the author. Nothing in the book that a best friend, family member or faith in God couldn't resolve. Very disappointing.

Carol's book has helped me through a tough time in my career. Reading her book gives me hope that the changes are not all negative.

A practical approach in the field that merits further embracing by career experts and practitioners alike. The story is not just in its efficacy but that the center where this was forged did this work for a range of diverse clients-and well. This was long before this narrative approach was even in the career academic literature. This model should be in every one stop center to provide everyone with the inner search - which is career counseling. Perhaps we’d have more congruency amongst people,in turn,forging healthier fully functioning community members! Imagine that future!

Carol is a heroine. In the important content of her book "The Time Between Dreams" Carol addresses the critical issue of the space between when we are not living out the our programmed roles we play at work. She takes us on a journey to understand the importance of choice, imagination and new perspectives in finding our authentic self, verses the limitations that motivate us through fear and loss. These choice insights help to guide oneself off the hamster wheel of life and face the music of our own drum beat, our own voice, our own rhythm!The book helps in creating our own reality, the reality we want to live in. Not only have I read the book, I have also taken workshops at Centerpoint, where I have walked the journey along with others. The experience has been very rewarding. I have high regards for a woman on the forefront of helping us as a humanity to librate and choose the path of our highest truth, our voice and noblest expression in life.

I read the book last summer and promptly gave it away to a 24-year-old who really needed the perspective on her life. And then I recommended it to everyone I knew; apparently I know a lot of people of all ages who are between their dreams, looking to figure out where they are in life, and how to be who they want to be. The book is concise yet detailed, helpful without being overbearing, and caring without being smarmy. The author has done a wonderful job addressing the key issue that so many people face - the seemingly unending uncertainty of trying to find the meaning and direction that sometimes gets buried within us. I'm going to get my local coop bookstore to order several copies for me so that I can loan them out and give them away.

This book is written by a woman who considers herself enlightened when actually she isn't. There are no new concepts or ideas here.
