Batman: The Video Game

Many retrogame reviewers have pointed to Batman: The Video Game on the Nintendo Entertainment System to be the rare example of a movie-licensed video game that turned out to be pretty good.It's easy to agree with this assessment, the game is top-notch in many regards. Music, sound, and the graphics are all very nicely done. The platforming level design is good and loosely follows the movie with some liberties here and there. There is a nice wall jump mechanic that is surprisingly intuitive and fluid (other games like Super Metroid and the Ninja Gaiden games had clunky wall jump mechanics) and really fun to use. There is a minor complaint that the Select button pauses the game while the Start button scrolls through Batman's weapons, but it is only a minor nuisance, nothing game-breaking.The length of the game is reasonable, and the challenge is very fair. Most of the levels can be beaten without much of a fuss, and it is only the last level where the game ramps up tremendously in difficulty. The game has unlimited continues, so the game is only over when the player quits.Other than the one minor control issue, there's really nothing to complain about. This was a game that sold extremely well and was played by many Nintendo gamers back in the day. It was well-liked back then, and it is still one of the better games in the NES library.That being said, because the game sold so well there are plenty of copies in circulation. The price is edging up towards the $15 range, but can be had as low as $9 or $10 for someone willing to shop around. It's well worth $10, and definitely a must-have for any retrogamer.By the way, the game's ending is pretty awesome.

Who can forget about the cool graphics, awesome soundtrack, fluent controls, variety of explosive weapon upgrades, superb hand to hand combo attacks, unforgettable ninja style wall climb, and overall gameplay from this blockbuster hit? I heard some great reviews about this game in the early 1990s, but I didn't get a chance to check it out fo myself until 2007. I'm glad that Sunsoft finally got it right when making a movie title into a NES game (Kemco failed horribly with Superman two years earlier). Its sure far from a picnic to get to the Joker let alone defeat him, but thats the fun of the challenge. When playing this classic game, you'll always be at the edge of your seat, so be prepared. It is arguebly one of the NES's best action side scrollers and best NES movie adaptations When it comes down with video games, Batman usually gets treated very well. Please pick this title up and play with patience. Its worth it!

Out of all the Batman games out there (and trust me, there are quite a few), this is one of my favorites. The gameplay is satisfying, the levels are well-designed, and the music is excellent. Batman has some pretty cool weapons as well, such as batarangs and a "Batgun", both of which are fun to use. Batman also has a neat, but uncharacteristic, Ninja Gaiden style wall jump. The only problem I found was the lack of better villains. Sure The Joker is the end boss, but where are Two-Face, The Penguin, and The Riddler? Most of the enemies are generic, but well-designed. The game is very challenging too. Also, the color scheme is a little strange. Batman appears to be purple instead of the traditional blue. All in all, a good game for both Batman and the NES.

I have not played this for almost 20 years since in was kid in middle school in early 90's i recently rebought this game a beat it for the first time ever!!!yes the level 5-1 i hard but it takes knowing how to use batman in the game to get past it..the music is awesome all levels stage 1 and 2 and 4 are the best. if you bought the modern batman games and not this one. you should go get now learn your roots from the first batman video game that started it all!!! great price!

The music, the movie references, the punishing difficulty. All of the memories of this unforgiving platform game are still intact 3 decades later. Ive had it for months and still can't beat it because it is so flipping hard.

This game was in very good condition when received. Most NES games don't look that good anymore. I gave this as a present to a friend for their birthday, and they loved it. It's definitely a more difficult game, but it is fun to play!

Underrated classic highly recommended

I loved this game when it was new, and still like it many years later. The only thing that's changed is that I'm not nearly as good at video games as I used to be. I beat this game originally, but this time around struggled to beat the second boss. Still a great game though, and I still think the graphics are great for an 8-bit system.

This is a great nes game the reason i only gave it 3 stars is because of the terrible way it was shipped when i got it this morning it came in a normal envelope not a bubble envelope like it should have been, it was wrapped with paper towel and scotch tape marked up on the front and the back with permanent black marker luckily i got that off with a mister clean magic eraser and luckily the label wasn't marked up with permanent black marker very shoddy packaging game worked really well though thankfully.

Came 3 weeks early, same great game I grew up with

Alors vraiment un jeu magnifique pour l’époque ! j'avais jamais vu ça ! mais bon dieu que c'est dur ! j'ai du mal a tenir 10 minutes ... Il y a une latence pour les sauts assez énervante ... Un coup a prendre peut etre ... mais c'est dommage pour un qualité d'animation et de graphisme aussi exceptionnel ...Un jeux a avoir mais accrochez vous bien.

Dieses Spiel hab ich seit lange Zeit gesucht funktioniert auf US Konsole.

Le jeu fonctionne sans problème et l'étiquette n'est pas déchirée, que demander de plus...
