it is easy to insert it upside down and when you do ...
I would give 5 stars if it weren't for inserting the battery into the remote, it is easy to insert it upside down and when you do it is very difficult to remove it from the remote, gets stuck half way in... done it twice.... other than that it works perfectly, does everything I wanted it to do.UPDATE: every time I drop the remote the battery comes out, I have now inserted the battery wrong for the third time going to mark the case so this doesn't happen again... Other than this it works great

Solved Audio Hum problem, Switches Perfectly, Proper Cable layout
Before I installed this switch, I could only connect three of my five HDMI sources to my TV and I had to use the audio output of my TV to drive my speaker system.. Try as I might, I could not eliminate a 60 cycle hum from my audio system. I received this HDMI switch yesterday and plugged all five HDMI sources into it, including a Comcast set top box, Roku, Chromecast, a Chromebox computer, and a Raspberry Pi. The switch works perfectly with all five sources. After connecting the switch's audio extractor output to my audio system the 60 cycle hum disappeared. WhooHoo! The only drawback to using the audio extractor output to bypass my TV's noisy audio output is that neither this switch, nor my audio system has a remote volume control. So I have to jump up from the couch and adjust volume using a knob on my speaker system. To solve that problem I could replace the speaker system with one that is remotely controlled, but I have ordered a remote volume control device to put between the audio extractor output and my speaker system that hopefully will solve the problem. I did not take off a star for this deficiency though, because it was clear from the description of the HDMI switch that its audio output is not remotely controlled, and because I am not aware of any other HDMI switch having an audio extractor output having a remotely controlled volume. One important advantage to this switch over many other available HDMI switches is that all the connectors are on the back of the box. This allows you to mount the switch under your TV with the IR input visible to your remote control device, with all the cables extending out the back of the box. Many cheaper HDMI switches have input and output HDMI and power connectors on more than one side of the switch, which means some of the cables will be visible from the front of the box, and cables extending from the switch in more than one direction results in a visible a cable mess.

its like you gotta have it right in its face to ...
its mostly ok, I didn't expect a lot really. so, some of the indicator lights stopped working after a little while. the remote that comes with it works but not well, its like you gotta have it right in its face to get it to see it.. I don't know if this will last me more than a year honestly.

Simplified my setup
I was looking for a HDMI switcher with audio passthrough and this was one of the only ones I could find with 5 ports. I am happy to say that it works well.I use the switcher between different game consoles, with the output of the switcher going to a splitter. The audio passthrough goes to my headset mixer. The video and audio quality are perfectly fine (tested at 1080/60p), and it switches to the active HDMI device reliably and quickly.I don't use the remote with it, so I cannot speak to the quality or consistency of that. That said, my only real gripe with the switcher is that there is not an option to use a remote IR receiver (as pictured with the old devices). This one device simplified my setup immensely, I am more than pleased with the result.

Works Great!
Was a bit wary at first, since it lacks reviews but my worries were gone after installation.I got my gaming PC, Wii U & Gamecube hooked up to this thing (Gamecube via Zeldaxpro's HDMI adapter) & everything runs great on my 1080p TV. Not sure how 4k is, since I don't have one. Sound extractor works great as well. Everything's running through my speakers after plugging in the audio cables it's automaticJust a slight delay when switching between inputs & the HDMI ports are a little tight but other than that there's no input lag when gaming & no audio or video issues that I can tell & I usually notice any lag when gaming right away.So far, thing works great & just how I was hoping it would.

Works terrible
It worked great at first. Then about a week later it started switching inputs constantly while I was watching tv. Now it does it all the time. It’s the worst!!! If I could give this zero stars I would!

Happy customer
So glad I found this. I have multiple gaming consoles and a Blu ray. My main reason for purchasing this was for my surround sound. Not enough input for the consoles but with this, I am able to easily switch the input with the remote and have my gaming on surround sound. The picture is great too. No change at all. Love it and highly recommend for people with multiple gaming consoles.

Affordable solution for getting 5:1 sound from a digital signal using HDMI.
Does exactly what I bought it for. It allows me to get 5:1 sound from the cable box and dvd using the HDMI connections. The remote works fine, but there is that problem of the instructions not telling you how to install the battery (+ side up).
