The Revenge of the Baby-Sat (Volume 8)

I got this, and all the other Calvin + Hobbes books for my dad, as he used to have a lot of them before my ex stepmother took them in their divorce a few years ago. I grew up stealing those books from him to read, and we had a lot of good memories around those books and reading them together. He loved them, and the comics are still as amazing as I remember them being <3

The book came in excellent condition and my son loves reading it.

I used to read the Calvin & Hobbes books when I was a kid and remember them fondly. I have now bought all of the books for my own kids. We enjoy reading them together every night (I laugh out loud frequently at these strips, so it's something I look forward to as well). My older son is an avid reader, and has already re-read the books we've finished multiple times. He doesn't seem to get tired of them.The biggest difference I've seen is in my younger son. When I tried reading other books with them at bed time, he'd always wander off or start playing with something else. With Calvin & Hobbes, not only does he stay put (miracle!), but he asks questions about what all the big words mean, and he shocked me the other day when I came across him reading one of these books. Voluntarily. On purpose. With access to plenty of other things to play with.So yeah, definitely worth buying!

I love Calvin and Hobbes. My dad used to read them to me growing up. He passed a few years ago. Recently I came across my old Calvin and Hobbes and got into them again as reading comfort food.This book does have a great multi-comic strip line-up in which Calvin plots revenge against Roslyn the Baby-sitter, hence title. It is strictly black and white, no color like some of the anthologies. I opted to finish my collection of original books, instead of getting the collectors edition. I believe if you do that, there are some repeats, and I noticed in reading this book some seemed familiar as if I had read them before. But I am also re-reading the series so it's no surprise. It's not like I sat down and cataloged what comics are in what books and in what order.If you are looking for a gift for a younger child, either as a way to introduce the comic into their lives, or just to complete your collection, I recommend this book. I actually haven't seen this book in bookstores, so I was happy Amazon had it. If it's a first book of someone, I'd say go for a colorful anthology so they can really get the full appreciation. I would get this book again, though. Wonderful read.

My smart, introverted, quirky ten year old has been obsessed with these books for two years now, and reads them over and over, both with me and alone.Calvin and Hobbes are timeless. Get ‘em all.

This is a collection of Calvin and Hobbs cartoons. They are a great mix of themes. There is one episode that is a good reminder of what is really important.

My now 7 and 9 year old kids love reading Calvin and Hobbes. I use to love it as a kid and now I love watching my kids enjoy the same books that I did as a child. My son started readying it when he turned 6 and he will sit and read for hours. I can hear him laughing throughout the house while he is reading this book. I highly suggest the Calvin and Hobbes books!
