Very Good Mop; High Price
Very good, thick cleaning pad which swivels and cleans larger areas of floor than a Swiffer. The terry cloth cleaning pads are absorbable and don't streak the floors. True, one has to replace the dirty pad and wash them unlike a Swiffer, but I found after mopping that running the pads under hot water with Dawn dishwasher detergent and wringing, cleans them pretty well and prepares them for the next job!I give a one point deduction for the rather high pricing and the fact you only receive one cleaning pad.

Simple is best
If you are looking for a lightweight floor cleaner with reusable mop pads that you can refill with your own cleaner and doesn't require much elbow grease - stop looking - it doesn't exist; buy this instead! I've tried a lot of floor cleaning devices and nothing has meet my needs better than this simple Sh-mop I bought five years ago. In five years, I've purchased new mop covers only once because my old ones wearing wearing at the corners. The mop pads are terrycloth, which, in my experience, is the best for floor cleaning. The proof is in cleaning your floors, then going back and hand wiping to see if anything remains. With every other device I've used, the floor remains dirty enough that I have to hand wipe it at some point. Not so with the Sh-mop. It requires some elbow grease, but not too much. The only problem I've ever had with mine is that the handle comes unscrewed from the base sometimes, but it doesn't come all the way off, and is fixed with a simple twist. I use a spray bottle of Simple Green as cleaner, but you can use whatever you want. The base does have a foam pad. The terry cloth is elastic at the corners, and covers the foam pad. This is a great design, because the pressure you put on the Sh-mop goes into that pad, which pushes the terry cloth onto the floor. The terry cloth fits well, and never slips off.

Good, but ditch high shipping & try local alternatives first
I only researched this online before I bought it to use on my new hardwood floors. My husband was afraid that the vacuum would scratch them. I didn't purchase additional covers because the shipping cost was already high (shipping doubles the cost). I'm glad, as I find I'm not using the mop as often as I thought. It may be good for open spaces, but with lots of furniture to go around, it's simply easier to just vacuum--I can reach smaller spaces with the crevice tool. Also, after purchasing I have found several local alternatives (O-Cedar, Quickie, Rubbermaid) that look like they would work just as well for half the price(not paying shipping). The only difference I see is that these use a synthetic dust-cover; the Sh-Mop's is cotton. I can live with that. I think that the replacement covers for these mops will also fit the Sh-Mop. So yes, it's a good product; just evaluate how you'll be using it before you buy. I would definitely not spend $24 for it again for my use.

I could hug the guy who invented this!
Just before Christmas 2007, I was desperate to find a way to get my large tile kitchen floor clean without dreading the job. I did a lot of internet research and settled on the Hoover Flair to first vacuum up all the dirt. But then I had to find a way to mop it. The last thing I wanted was to have to go to Wal-Mart to buy chemical-filled refills of some product. I just wanted to use a mop and water. Goodness, on a scale of 1-10, the Sh-Mop is about a 50. I absolutely LOVE it. I simply put hot water and a little Simple Green in a clean bowl in the sink, put in the cloth, wring it out, place it on the Sh-Mop, and off I go. It fits under the fridge and every protruding ledge. As soon as it gets a little dirty, I throw it in the washing machine and grab the next cloth. It takes about 5 to do my large kitchen floor. No more rinsing a dirty mop in dirty water and hoping to get your dirty floor clean. You are constantly applying a fresh, clean cloth and the floor really shows it.The thing I like best is that if you clean your house for a party, and after the party the floor is already starting to look dirty again, you just grab that Sh-Mop and 3 minutes later you have a clean floor again. It's so EASY! You can just use plain hot water! BUT, it does help to vacuum first to get up the particles of dirt, and for that I strongly recommend the Hoover Flair. These two are perfect when used in combination with each other. The bottom line is this: 6 months ago I DREADED washing my kitchen floor. I haven't dreaded it since using the Flair and the Sh-Mop. Not at all.

broke in 7 months
This mop was perfect for my new hardwood floors, until today. The mop broke at the base of the handle, where it attaches to the flat part of the mop, there at the pivot point. We haven't abused it or used it for anything other than mopping. I'm quite disappointed. I'll be calling the company to see if I can get a free replacement. I've only had it for seven months, and I use it about once a month.Edited: March 27, 2012When I called the Floor Cleaners company on a weekend about a month or so ago, got the voicemail, left my name and phone number. No one ever called me back. I just called again, on a weekday, and someone answered the phone. She then had me call the people that make the actual mop, and someone there was very friendly, and is sending me a new mop base, free of charge, today. No problems once I got someone on the phone. yay!So I modified my review to give 3 stars
