Not for newer model big blocks.
Data contained (casting part numbers etc) stop at 1976 and the copy right is 1983.If you have a BB newer than 1976 you might want to look for a different publication.

tells me how perfect the book is and back to his garage
I bought this book for my boyfriend. He said that the book is complete copy and full of information to do the job right. He calls it "book for old school guys". Now, he is spending less time on internet looking for an info about engines where he couldn't find full information anyway and end up by looking on women. At least, now he is looking in the book and don't get distracted, tells me how perfect the book is and back to his garage. I'm happy to see him busy ;)

Quality content orderly presented without leaving out detail
Wilson's book presents a step by step how to rebuild your BBC without being an "upscale" list of bullet points. His presentation, while perhaps a bit grammatically insensitive, appeals to people who won't mind getting their hands dirty taking on their own rebuild project. I recommend Tom's book for anyone considering a rebuild of their Big Block Chevy. You won't find hot rodding performance tips here, but you'll come away with all the practical knowledge needed to work through it on your own. The one piece of advice I'd add to the book is that you use an oil pump primer to spin up your oil pump before first starting your newly rebuilt motor.

Pretty good but not great.
I'm doing a partial rebuild on my 454. I picked up this book because I know next to nothing about rebuilding motors. This book gives a pretty thorough walk-through, beginning with removing the block, stripping it down, taking it to the machine shop and reassembling it.There's good information in the book. My main gripe is the author assumes you'll be reusing most of the same components that you started with. I had planned to put a hotter cam in the motor and I know I need to check the clearance between valves and piston...none of this is covered. He just says slap the heads back on.This is another book that will probably be nice to have around if you're a beginner.

Great for shade tree mechanics!
Very good. Used it to rebuild 366 cu in truck motor. Some photos with procedures unclear, but all in all, a good guide. Covers all Chevy big blocks.
