In real life this is actually a bit smaller than the picture would make it appear. That being said, these do the job. A pencil holder isnt rocket science. But the “stainless” claim is specious. They DO rust. Not “falling-apart-badly-in-24-hours-rust”, but they DO suffer from corrosion if used outdoors for a long period of time. If you get six months of use from this outdoors, consider yourself lucky. But corrosion is unlikely to be a big problem for most folks unless you are leaving pens for clients afterhours (like us) for a long period. Just figure this into your thinking. Overall I’m pleased with the product. 4-stars from this buyer!

The expandable spring that holds the pen or pencil works well. Because of the coiled spring it can hold pens and pencils of various diameters and finishes (eg. Metal, plastic, rubber coated, etc.). It's small and inconspicuous. The one key downside of this item is the clip that slips on to a clipboard or notebook - it's a wide flat metal clip with a smooth chrome finish, so it easily slips off of the clipboard or notebook. Depending how the clip is mounted on a clipboard or notebook, when inserting or removing a pen or pencil, the entire unit will slip off the clipboard/notebook. It would be better if the inner surface of the clip had a finish that provide more friction to prevent it slipping off a clipboard/notebook so easily.

These are a bit pricey but they really work well. You can slip a pencil in and out with zero effort yet they hold surprisingly securely. I needed a way to hold a pencil on my new golf cart which had a clip for a score card but no clip for a pencil. I epoxied one of these clips in place and it does a great job.

I travel frequently and keep a journal style book with reservation details and notes per trip and was looking for a pencil/pen holder for this unique book that has a side magnetic closure.The holder clip does not fit flush against the book, it sits up 1/2” and will fall off when pulling in/out of bags. It also has ‘lips’ on each end so will not lay flat in the book.I assume the best use is for clip boards or stationary books.It will fit multiple pen/pencil widths.

Is as expected. Clips on my bullet journal and hold the pens. It can slip off if you are stacking books, etc... b/c of pushing others accidentally against making it slide, but overall really like them. I was putting my favorite pen used for my bullet journal in the middle of the book, which is not good and makes for more difficulty transporting - this is much better!

Didn't work well in my shop environment. However I can see a use for them in an Ox or a satchel.

UPDATE: see photo. i found a way to utilize these for any type of pen, including rubberized grips.the different directions on the clips are super useful, but they are not the best option for pens with a rubberized grip; the rubber part tends to pull the clip right off your journal when you remove your pen. if you are using a plastic pen or stainless steel pen, these are perfect.
