Had this for 5 years and still going Strong
It easily went onto my car's air vent and ever since then it has never fallen off in the past 5 years and I put my phone on the phone holder almost every time I drive my car since I use it for GPS most of the time. There is no suction involved as it is a clamp, so I'd say the clamp strength is really good, but also for my car there is like a little ledge below the air vents that helps to keep the phone holder up when my phone is in the phone holder. So I think it is also thanks to how my car interior is that this phone holder has been able to work for me in the same car over the past 5 years. Possibly when I get a new car it won't work as well if there is no ledge below the air vents, but that remains to be seen.

Works great for large Note 4 phone in Otterbox
My phone is a Note 4 in an Otterbox and my car is a Subaru. The phone fits in this cradle perfectly and the whole setup, although heavy, fits into the vents very well. I am able to detach it easily after each car ride, which is vital to me because I don't want some smash and grab thief seeing that I have a phone holder on my dash, which apparently is how they determine I have electronics in my car trunk.Anyway, this holder has two settings on the clamp. One for thick vents and one for thin vents. Apparently I have a thick vent. The setup as a whole does drag down my vent a bit, so I attached the clamp to the top fins of the vent. That seems to allow me to get air while still giving me great function as a phone holder where I can see my phone. This is actually the best product I've used so far, as those dash mounts seem to slide all over the place with each turn, the suction mounts drop off randomly on me, and the CD vice (reverse vice?) thing broke after 2 months of use. I've heard rumors about the magnet disks scratching the vents, which I can understnad because of the way they slide onto vents.. This holder doesn't have those issues. Awesome product. Really well made, especially for the price.

Near flawless vent clip
This is a great product but there are some vents that it doesn't stay upright well.I tested this in my 2012 VW Jetta, 2014 Lincoln MKZ and a 2011 Jeep Compass. I also used a Galaxy Note8, an Iphone 6 and 7 plus as well as a ZTE Axon 7.Let's start with the cars. The vent clip worked very well in the Jetta and MKZ. In both cars it attached well and felt very sturdy even with the weight of a large phone. It has 3 different settings for the tightness so it will fit on nearly every car vent with ease. The downside is that the vent you attach it to effectively becomes blocked so you need to take that into account. As far as the mount's ability to hold phones I've no doubt that nearly every phone will fit fine. I tested it on 4 and all fit well even in their cases. The build quality is awesome, it feels sturdy and like it cost a lot more than it did. My favorite part is the way it slowly opens when you hit the arm release.I would recommend for sure, I don't think you can really go wrong unless your vent don't adapt well to the fit.

Great little device! easily broken, but easily fixed
Has definitely served me well. I have a 1990 ford Ranger and this thing has the only mount to work in the truck. It’s not perfect though. If turned it will sometimes fall out. However, just by taking it out and putting it in again it clampdown just as hard as the day I bought it. Warning do not let your friend touch it. I told my friend it was slow to release and that I had to press the button and wait. My friend is not good at waiting. He forced the clamp open and broke it. The thing still worked but it was off center. It was very easy to fix but did take time out of my day. I used it while it was „broken“ for about 4 months.

Excellent iPhone6 Plus holder, okay Lumia 950XL holder
As the weather turned cold, we realized we needed a holder that would help the phone be less susceptible to overheating while it charged in the car. So far, the thick backing and the distance this holds the phone away from the vent seems to be working so the phone can be charging while the car's heat is on. Our main concern was how much force it might take to press the hidden release button, but the retracting arms/wings are spring powered, so it only takes a tiny bit to release the catch. When open, it is wide enough to allow a iPhone6 Plus to be inserted (just barely) and it holds this phone snugly, when the arms/wings are squeezed in to the phone edges. For a Lumia 950XL, squeezing the phone all the way causes at least one of the side buttons to be pressed and the arms/wings are not vertically adjustable, but fortunately the arms/wings bow in slightly in front of the phone. This means the Lumia has to be left a little loose, but will still not fall out under most conditions. Tip: Plug in your phone power cable first, before putting it in the holder.

Nice cradle, but charge port door on Life proof cases is wider than the space at bottom, so no charging while in cradle.
Not compatible with charging a life proof cell phone while in cradle. But not bad. Instructions were confusing and faced with forcing two parts together and risk breakage, I watched a video that says you have to cram the rotator ball into a tight plastic cuff. It did well enough attaching to my Dodge Dakota AC vents. Something I didn’t anticipate: it will fit an iPhone 6 Plus in a Life Proof case easily, but but the bottom of the cradle lacks width required to open the case’s charging port hatch door. Thus I can charge phone in cradle. See photos. Rather than send it back, I used wire cutters to widen the opening. Now I can have the phone charging while cradled. It’s well designed and has variable width for all sizes of phones.

HEAVY DUTY CAR CELL MOUNT
This car cell phone mount worked perfectly in my Jeep. I have a pretty large cell and it is in a pretty thick hard case but still worked great. This cell mount is super easy to install and the directions are very easy to read and follow. There is 1 little mount on the bottom that you turn to the left or the right to get the back part of mount snug, then you push the cell part on to it and screw it snugly in place. There is a quick release button on the back to open up where the cell goes into. My cell was held snugly in place and did not move around in the mount. Since this mount is rotational it can be either horizontal or vertical which is great for a GPS. I really like having the hands free calling since my state is really getting strict about it.

Best solution out there for car phoine mount
Love this piece of kit! So easy to fit, very strong. Quick release adds to ease. Would definitely recommend over suction or sticky devices.
