Klipsch R-40M Bookshelf Speakers (Pair)

Paired with a Klipsch R8SW subwoofer and DOUK AUDIO amplifier I was shocked at the sound I was getting. The speakers are very clear. Perfect for movie audio in a 2.1 setup as a lot of speakers tend to struggle with voice audio in movies without a centre speaker. Not so these.

Seemingly built to last I have them on a mission 778x no harsh treble they sound rather good nice stereo image and bass (need a good amplifier) my marantz pm6003 sounds awful. I have changed the amplifier to the Quad vena II... If you listen to Classical solo,trio,quartet and or Jazz/Blues it's amazing a system to love emotionally engaging fantastic...

You can tell these are a quality product. They sound great with my Cambridge Audio CX A81amp, CXN streamer, and Sony turntable. I love the ample yet crisp sound. Lovely tone driven by an amp that doesn't have any equaliser, bass, treble, or loudness adjustment - you just don't need it with this combo. What you hear doesn't need fiddling with. I connected using Amazon Basics Speaker Wire - 14-Gauge, White, which provides ample signal to drive them, and is still discreet when running into the corners of the room to get to the wall-mounted speakers. I love the design, prefer to keep the covers off and admire the clean design of both bass driver and treble horns. IMHO they are stylish and compact but deliver everything the amp has to offer. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

I was worried that they may be a bit small for my front/stereo speakers but they are great for both music and movies. I don't have a sub yet but these have enough bass for my small flat. Recommended for anyone with a small/medium room. If I move somewhere bigger I might go for the R-50M instead and use these as surround speakers

Got these a few weeks ago now and use them in my home office. The step up from my old speakers are amazing, they are in use most of the day with my technics seperates and the clarity is way above what I had before.

Took one speaker out off the box. Checked it with the WiiM amplifier; out it straight back into the box and returned it. The reviews are not accurate. Q Acoustics is a much better choice.

聴く音楽ジャンルは、ロック、メタル、EDM、J-POPが主です。 90dbを超える高感度帯に属する小型スピーカーを購入するのは初めてです。 とりあえず、メーカーが底にコルクシートを貼ってくれていたので、床から75cmのスピーカー台に直置きで聞いております。 音源はAmazon Musicのハイレゾです。DACはフォステクスのHP-A4です。 スピーカーケーブルはベルデン8460を2mです。 アンプはDENONのAVアンプ（15万くらいのやつです。）ステレオ、Pureモードで聞いています。 ウーファーが小口径にも関わらず、PolkのXT15よりも音圧を感じることに驚きました。 音が凄く前に出てきます。中高音はとても綺麗でレスポンスも早いのですが、刺さる感じはほとんどしないです。 どこまでも伸びていきそうな伸びやかな感じはホーン特有です。これが気持ち良い方にはたまらんのではないでしょうか。価格も考えるととても良いと思います。 意外だったのは、低音も思ったよりは出ていることです（小口径なのでサブウーファーで補強する予定でした）。リアバスレフですが、きちんと壁から30cmほど離してやると良い感じで出ます。 量がないだけで質感は悪くないので、普通に聴く分には、サブウーファーなくても音楽が楽しめます。 ベースの最低音は何となくしか聞こえないので、きちんと下も出したい方は、サブーファー推奨です。 でも、これで良いって方も多いと思います。 ただし、音量を絞って聴く方には向きません。しっかり音圧を感じつつ、スピード感のある音で聴くには、音量をある程度出す必要があります。 小型なので、出し過ぎると低音がボワ付くのが目立ってくるので、適度な音量の範囲は狭いと思います。 軽量でサイズも小さいので、置き場所も困らないです。 質感は、サランネットはマグネットで収まりも良く、ちょっとネットが本体に凹みがあってツライチに近い状態になる構造で、ホコリなどの影響も少ないと思います。ゴールドのメーカーロゴも良い感じです。 本体は価格帯的に仕方がないと思いますが、木目のビニールシート巻きなのでそれなりです。 小型スピーカーで、この資質を持つ製品を他に知らないので、比較出来ないのですが、 新しい扉を開いてしまったということです。とても気に入りました。 POLK（XT15とES10）もB&W（603）もDALI（レクトール2、センソール1）もYAMAHA（古くて型番忘れてしまった）も好きなのですが、DALIのような重たい低能率のまったりした感じとは真逆のスピーカーで、好みが分かれるというのは分かる気がします。 小型のアンプでも鳴らしやすいと思うので、汎用性を考えるとコスパは良いと思います。 BGM的にまったり楽しむにはちょっと疲れるかもしれませんが、ノリノリで音楽を聴きたい気分の時は、超良いと思います。スピード感が癖になります。 どんなジャンルでも万能に鳴らすのは手持ちの中では、YAMAHAとB&Wだと思いますが、POLKのコスパは意味が分からないくらい良いですし（オーディオ沼入門用に絶対的にお勧め）、 DALIのまったり感も良いですし、YAMAHAの素直な素朴な音も好きなので、 このクリプシュ君は、知らなかった扉を開いてくれたので、★5です。 ギターのザクザク感とか、鳥肌物です。 ただ、万人に勧められるかというと、有識者の皆様のおっしゃる通り、はまれば凄く良いスピーカーということになるでしょうか。 イメージだけでも伝われば良いのですが、皆さん、良い音楽ライフを！ ※私は割と原音再生とかはどうでも良いタイプです。自分が聴いて楽しければハッピーなタイプなので、 真剣に音と向き合いたいタイプの方は違うスピーカーをお勧めします。 2026/2/8追記 ベルデン8470のケーブル3mでも聞いてみました。 高音の伸びがちょっとなくなって、低音が更に出るようになりました。 リスニングのバランスは8470のほうが良いと思います。 ただ、ゾクゾクするような中音と高音の特徴が薄くなるので、サブウーファーで低音を補える方は8460の2mをお勧めします。 ほんの少しの太さの違いなんですが、電気信号の抵抗というのはバカにならない物ですね・・・。 Windowsパソコンで標準ドライバーで聞いているのですが、8460の時はパソコンの音量を90にして、AVアンプ側のボリュームを絞り目にしたほうがゾクゾクした音が出ます。 8470の時は、パソコンのボリュームを70くらいにして、AVアンプのボリュームを上げていったほうが、下が出てきて、バランスが良くなります。 アンプ側の歪みなどの具合にも左右されると思いますが、 基本はソース側のボリュームを最大か9割程度にして、アンプ側（プリでも良い）で音量調節するのが基本なのは、 皆さんご存じだと思いますが、スピーカーケーブルで結構SNの良いところってあると思いますので、 高感度スピーカーって反応が良くて面白いですね。 ほとんどのメーカーが低能率ばかり作っている理由が分かりました。 基本フラットに近く、セッティングに左右されづらいスピーカーになりやすいからということを実感しました。 家庭用で色々な方が使うと思ったら、低能率のほうが都合が良いんですね。 沼にはまった人たちが、高能率が良いと言っているのは、セッティングを変えて良いところをきちっと探していたからなんですね。 頭で理解はしていたつもりが、実感出来ました。そうなるとPolkの4オームスピーカーの低能率でもなく、高能率でもない絶妙のラインのコスパが異常に良いと感じるのも理解出来ました。セッティングしやすいのに、良く鳴るものなぁ。Polk。 私はサブウーファーもあるので、私は8460で使おうと思いますが、8470のバランスの良さも捨てがたい。 密閉型のサブウーファーが欲しくなってきました。 バスレフだと量は出るけど、スピードに若干ついて来れないんですよね・・・。位相も弄ってみたけど、置き場所も考えないといけないかもですね。 小型スピーカー買ったのに、サブウーファーもバスレフじゃなくて密閉型が欲しくなるとは、完全に沼った。 下まで出すなら絶対２５ｃｍ以上必要（出来れば30cm）だから、これより遙かに高い買い物じゃないか・・・。 もしや、初めからトールボーイ型買うべきだったかとも思いますが、 小口径のこのスピード感は軽量な小型しかないんだろうなぁ。どっちも味わいたいなら、やっぱり密閉型のサブウーファーも持っていた方が楽しそう。 とりとめがなくなってしまいましたが、1セット目には勧めませんが、2セット目以降の購入で色々試して遊びたい方には、超お勧めです。新しい扉開けると思います。

They are beautiful and powerful for their size. The highs and the mids sound very nice. They are good for causal listening at normal volumes, but if you want to throw a party you need a subwoofer because there is not much at the lower end of frequencies. Bass lines come out great but almost no kick from the bass drums. Or at least you have to be at a perfect spot to hear it (just a spot, not an area!). I have read a lot of reviews, before buying, that they need a subwoofer for the lower frequencies and as much as I didnt want to believe that, its unfortunatley true. At least if you want to be capable of throwing a party, even if its a small room. Tldr: great sounding monitor speakers for small rooms, but a subwoofer is needed for mid sized rooms (10sqm+) or if you want to throw a party because they are lacking deeper bass and there is no kick from the bass drums etc. Edit: after three weeks of living with the speakers I want to add that maybe you dont really need the subwoofer if you just want to listen to music. I have them in a living/dining room (30 sqm) and they are actually just fine on their own. I still have the same opinion on needing a subwoofer in case you want to throw a party with more people. Naturally, given the size, one shouldn’t expect crazy bass output but I actually find it just right for casual everyday listening. Thats why I am now correcting my rating from 4 stars to 5.
