ThuleVital Hydration Backpack

Let me begin by saying that I have never been a fan of hydration packs. All of the brands I have previously used from Camelback, Nathen, Fox, Osprey etc.. always felt heavy and unbalanced and why I avoided using them but recently I was forced to ditch my seat bag to carry my spares and tools for my mountain bike because my new bike came with a dropper seatpost.Having read some good initial reviews of the Thule Vital I decided to give it a try and to my surprise this hydration pack was really awesome. The split bladder keeps the water from sloshing around so the pack feels stable on your back and its low center of gravity makes it really comfortable even on longer rides. It was so comfortable in fact that I had to reach up a couple of times and check that it was still on my body because it felt like it wasn’t there at all! Their “ReTrakt” magnetic hose system is really cool and makes it easy to find when on the trail and the side pocket placement is at the perfect location to easily reach your arm back for your nutrition needs. Like all of Thule’s products the quality is great, so if you are a trail rider just having fun or a racer looking for lightweight feel and comfort this I highly recommend this product.

I purchased this because I wanted a pack that holds the weight of my hydration bladder lower on my back. This pack definitely does a good job of keeping the weight lower, more on my hips, and tighter on my body so I don’t feel it too much as I move on my bike.

The backpack is mostly pretty suitable and made with good quality materials. I putted it some snacks and small stuff and it has enough space for me. I used it for summer hiking in the Grand Canyon. The water capacity is enough for short walking, but I had to refill 3 times for half day walking. I didn't like the water mouth too much because when it's hang down from the container or squeezed underneath the backpack the water was leaking.

The 8L pack is lightweight and functional. The Obsidian color blends in with everything else. The pad that makes contact with my back is engineered. The straps do a good job of stabilizing and distributing the load, and the extra material is kept out of the way. There is no need to readjust the straps at halfway, or at empty - just once and forever. In main compartment I carry a 27.5x2.5 tube, pump, CO2 inflator, tire repair kit, multi-tool, extra derailleur hanger, and there room for more. In the outside pocket, cellphone, credit cards, car keys. In the third zippered pocket, wrap sunglasses. There is room for a light jacket in expansion area. The side pockets can be used for quick access to food or gear. The bladder is precisely calibrated, just carry what you will drink and no more. The bite valve twists on/off. Low center of gravity. Forever solved the problem of modern mountain bike versus old tool bags and water bottles.

I agonised a but choosing my nest hydration pack because there’s such a variation in prices. I’m very happy with this Thule so far. Been out about 50miles with this on my back and it’s been a comfort snug fit.The bladder seems fully attached to the tubing so don’t expect to be able to remove it but washing it out while it’s attached isn’t that cumbersome. The mouthpiece and magnetic clip have so far been perfectly seedless in function. I barely notice it’s there now after taking a swig it just snaps back.The external Most clip wrap isn’t adjustable so you might need to secure anything small you bundle in there. I’ve used it with my ultralight rain jacket and it’s held firm.Great addition of extra clips for added fastening options!!

Despite design claims, weight does not sit on hips if you are taller than 6’2”. And if shoulder straps are extended to accommodate longer torso, chest strap is so high it practically chokes you even at its lowest position.

This is my first hydration pack I've ever owned, so I don't have much to base this review on. However, I love this pack. I've used it for mountain biking and hiking -- and it has been incredibly comfortable and useful. The hip pockets on the straps are great for stashing bars and other things you need easy access to. The bag is big enough to stuff a decent size coat into, so that's come in handy a few times.

Muy resistente, cómoda, aun que es algo pequeño el espacio.

Excelente Producto, el espacio es suficientemente amplio para llevar herramienta, agua, comida y los materiales tanto de bolsa (agua) y manguera son cómodos en rodadas largas. Terminado de mochila de buena calidad.Altamente recomendable!

Pricey, but the materials are top notch. And that magnetic clip for the water is a deal-breaker. As is usual the case, Thule came-up with another winner

Ein Hinweis für alle, die sich diesen Rucksack zulegen wollen. Ich würde mich beim nächsten Mal für die 8-Liter-Variante entscheiden, da die 6-Liter-Variante doch gar klein ausfällt und der Stauraum deutlich eingeschränkt ist. (Die Produktbilder beziehen sich meines Wissens nach alle auf die 6-Liter-Variante. Bilder zur 8-Liter-Variante gab es keine.)
