Beware of the delivery company in the UK
This ERSA soldering station looks to be a very useful item as the more common [in the UK] Antex stations only have a 50W iron. I have two observations - the single supplied tip is a pointed one which is probably not ideal for model making but probably entirely acceptable for electrical work - though an 80W iron is overkill for most home electrical jobs! Thus I will have to explore the enclosed documentation to order a suitable screwdriver type tip.Secondly, the delivery company promised delivery on the Monday following but actually delivered on the Saturday previously and left the cardboard box under a wheelbarrow in the garden - on a rainy day. Clearly this is not the fault of either Amazon or the retailer but the delivery folk. On that basis I would not order from this retailer [In Germany] again as they probably have a contract to use this particular delivery company in the UK.

One of the best at its price point
After a few months of use I can conclude that this is a very good soldering iron for SMD and through-hole work; much better than the cheapo Yihua iron it replaced. In Europe I doubt you can find anything better at its price point; although the price has gone up a bit since I bought it. It seems to be well built; while I was using it on a trip I did drop the box it was in a metre or so and the front panel came off, but there was no internal damage. At the time I bought it at least; it came with a European rather than UK plug which was slightly annoying, it would have been nice for Amazon to throw an adaptor in.

Absolutely fantastic - easily as good as irons costing several times the price.
Absolutely fantastic iron. Heats up to full temperature in 9 seconds from cold, in just 3 seconds from standby. Has auto standby (drops to 250 degrees) after several minutes of no use - just dabbing the tip into the brass wool is enough to trigger it to warm up again and by the time you have the iron to the job its ready to solder. Longer periods of no use and it drops down to about 60 degrees so no more burned out bits (I'm terrible for leaving irons on!)I also got a variety of bits and us it for fine smd work as well as soldering heavy cables.A friend bought one on my recommendation and loves it too - says it was the best £100 he ever spent on his hobby.

Great!
+You can set the temperature in accuracy of one degree.+It turns the heat down when not used in some time.+Settings can be changed on a PC using the memory card function.+Heats up to the set temperature very fast, in seconds!+Included tip is very good.+Comes with EU power socket so it works for me.+Included stand is very good. There are so many good things about it. Higly recommended for electronics hobbyists and for work.
