I gave the flavor five stars for benevolent sadism. Ask anyone who's ever tried Buckley's before, and watch their faces wrench up at the memory of how it tastes, without having anything to compare the taste so you have an idea of what you're in for. Then wait for it.....the inevitable "....BUT, that's stuff really works!" Because after you've been coughing up two and half lungs for a couple of weeks with little help from other otc cough medicines, you were strongly considering asking your doctor for a lung transplant anyway. So why not try something a lot cheaper and less drastic? Plus the only side effects you'll get from this is the way your chest feels when you've rubbed vapor rub on it, but from the inside, as if you swallowed the vapor rub instead (probably poisonous though so I dont recommend trying that). Sometimes there's also a bonus warm tingly feeling that spreads to your nipples if you're lucky. Oh yeah, and the fact that your cough/chest congestion will actually go away or within a week or less (usually less for me)!True story: Years ago, one of my mom's coworkers and her twin daughters each caught the same cough. Mom recommended Buckley's, with a disclaimer on the taste. The lady was like, "Nothing can taste more terrible than the home remedy my mother used to make." So she bought it, tried it, then came back the next day like, "OMG that stuff really is gross and totally tastes worse than my mom's home remedy, but my cough is already subsiding!" She could only get one of her daughters to try it, the other one was a punk and suffered for it with two more weeks of coughing while her mom and sister's cough had already gone away.Also a true story: For some reason Buckley's could not be found on shelves in American stores, nor ordered online from like 2010-2017???? Like, not even if you went directly to the Buckley's website. All you could do was read info, but Canada was not letting America have any. You had to know somebody in Canada who loved you enough to ship it to you personally. Not exactly sure how recently Buckley's became available again, but I was soooooo glad it did because I developed a cough last Veteran's Day weekend and couldn't find anything that worked. Eucalyptus oil from a diffuser gave me a little relief with chest congestion, but did nothing for the cough. I ordered Buckley's, paid extra for expedited shipping, but to my dismay it came late. I got it last friday (11/15) this is Wednesday (11/20) and my cough is already gone, the chest congestion and mucus mostly gone as well! Amazon customer service was great and refunded me the extra shipping cost before I even had a chance to send them an email request to do so. Thanks Amazon!So moral of the story is: get this medicine, don't be a punk about the taste because you will get use to it eventually, and this stuff really freaking works, it's amazing!

It's a shame that you can no longer find this in the stores. This explains why it costs so much more now. We grew up having Buckleys in the house for bad coughs and colds and now that I found it again, I'll keep some on hand for the same reason.It's still nasty... but it still works.

My mom swears my this stuff. She said it taste awful but works great. She recommends it to anyone. It's hard to find in NY. Glad Amazon has it. Mom had been using this over 30+ years.

This cough syrup tastes very strong but it cuts the coughing out fast

I had the world's worst cough way back in 2002. A co-worker came by and said "You need Buckleys! It'll knock that cough right out of you" Desperate, I went to pharmacy after pharmacy (I worked in New York at the time) and finally found it at Walgreen's by Port Authority.WELL! He wasn't kidding. He had warned me that it was nasty tasting but worked - I think that's similar to what was written on the label. Used it that night and went right to bed. In the morning, the cough was lingering but no where near as annoying it was the day before. I have sworn on Buckleys since, even passing along the mantra, "It tastes bad, but it WORKS!"Pricing for this 2pack was almost the price of 1 in the store. Best value and no more cough!
