Excellent wire cutters for audio and solar use, sturdy, ezy clean cuts ...
Excellent wire cutters for audio and solar use, sturdy, ezy clean cuts ...If I intended to do some heavier solid copper 10 ga cuts I'd just grab my similar but larger wire cutters. Right tool for the right job. No, I wouldn't take these out for the day doing a new home wiring install, and that's not what these are designed for. They do what they were designed for, ... very well and at this price it's a good value too - easily beating the big oriental tool shop chain.Highly recommended. These have been in use a month for 10ga OFC speaker wire which is fairly soft, 14ga solid and stranded THHN wire and no complaints at all.I have multiple projects and tool boxes in use and buying the 6 pack solved my issues.

Good flush cutters; don’t hold up to wave staples
It’s hard to find a flush cutter, but this one delivers on that design aspect. Bought these for cutting the “wave staples” of a plastic repair kit, based on other reviews I thought this might work for that. If you’re able to see in the photos, though, one side of the cutting blade is too soft and yields under pressure, causing cutting edge damage of one blade. So I wouldn’t recommend these for cutting anything but wire or, perhaps, regular staples.

Good Size
They even took the time to oil the tool ahead of time and wrap it, so it wouldn't dry out. Also spring loaded. Good size.

Worthless
I really wanted to like these cutters. I am doing a large order casting small figurines in pewter, and wanted a sharp pair of side cutters for snipping flashing off. They have a sharp edge, and a very sharp profile to the cutting edge, so they cut soft metal easily without a lot of "mashing" or trying to push the metal aside and distort it. And the flush cut side really is as close to flush as one could get - much better than a lot of cutters that claim to be flush cut but are not. That part is great.BUT, the edge hardness leaves a lot to be desired. I did this damage today cutting lead tire weights. Lead is about as soft as you can get. The damage is from where the cutting edge contacted the steel clip in the center of the wheel weight. And with only enough pressure to cut lead.OK for soft metals, but probably nothing harder than copper. I wasn't expecting these to be for heavy-duty use but this is ridiculous. The company calls these "heavy duty" in the tool description. They are not.EDIT: Today I took out my diamond hone to try and clean up the damage done to the cutting edge, and while I was at it to remove some of the non-flat surface on the cutting edge left by factory grinding. I noticed two things I had not before - 1) The edge cleaned up with the diamond hone way, way, easier than it should have, confirming the edge is either not a decent quality tool steel and/or not properly heat treated. I removed all the edge damage and fully flattened the cutting surfaces with maybe a dozen stokes on each edge. 2) The flush cut surfaces, the back "flat" side of the cutters did not align. I ground the entire back side flat on my bench grinder and again, it ground very easily. I have sharpened many sets of wire cutters that had damaged edges, and never seen one this soft. It confirms to me these should never be used for anything harder than copper wire. Maybe they will be ok for the lead and tin I am using them for, but not anything else.FOLLOW UP: I have now reground the profile and tip 3 times, in about 3 weeks of use, cutting nothing harder than 12 gauge copper wire. If you use the tip on anything it opens up a gap between the cutting edges. These are about to hit the trash can, and I'll have to replace them. I would give it 0 stars if I could. Wire cutters that take damage cutting wires are by definition worthless.
