PocketBook Era 16GB !!
This is my first day with the device and I am very pleased. This is my first PocketBook device and I've determined to keep up with their releases from now on, which seem to be one device per year. Sturdy and attractive design. PC connection and side loading simple and easy with Windows 8.1. The lighting is pleasing. Very responsive. And easy to navigate the simple things without yet having consulted the manual. I highly recommend this device.

Nice product
The pocketbook era is a nice product. The software is a little slow, but the page turns are really fast. It seems like it take a couple seconds longer to start up or navigate the settings than other ereaders I have used. Under certain lighting conditions other reviewers have mentioned that on the side with the page turn buttons the screen is a little dimmer than the other side. I notice this occurs with the smartlight when I am using it in a dark room. Otherwise I don't notice it. And if I didn't know it was there I may not have noticed it at all. Other than that the screen is really sharp and the reading experience is excellent.

Great Quality
If you want a quality E-reader that is not in the Amazon ecosystem then this is the one for you. Build quality, readability, are top notch. Also very customizable. It's also really nice that you can send eBooks wirelessly by sending it via email to your pocketbook.

For when you migrate back to e-ink devices....
I purchased this to replace a missing original Kobo (refurbished) e-reader. I wanted something backlit, wifi/usb-c connectivity and multi format file support. This seems to fit the bill...calibre recognized it. I downloaded a book from Project Gutenberg site with it over wifi. Screen touch nav is fully customizeable. Leaving the backlight on will sap the battery. I purchased a used like new example, and am not disappointed at all. The extra screen real estate is nice as is the assemetric design. I was initially planning to use koreader on this but after two days of non stop reading I think it's ok as it is. Huzzah for Pocketbook!

Absolutely beautiful
Love it. Everything I hoped it would be. Screen is similar to the Touch HD3 except bigger. For those who say font is not bright enough, simply use a different font. The script is perfect. Looks just like a book. Crisp and dark. Pocketbook has never failed me. I have returned all my Kindle products and now own only Pocketbook. Great products and great customer service.

Sorry Amazon. I'm fed up with Kindle quality control
This unit replaced my barely more than a year old Paperwhite Signature Edition. Yeah, I have had to convert to ePub, but I love this reader. In many ways it is superior to my long dead Kindle Oasis and at a much better price. It even has speakers for my audiobooks if I want. I am very happy with this purchase. Sorry, I've got 50,000 pages of reading backlog I've got to get back to.

Great build quality and feature, but very sluggish and glitchy
The Pocketbook Era has great build quality, feeling like a truly premium device in the hand. It has a good screen, and a lot of nice software features, it's a very open, flexible operating system, and it has unparalleled file format support for ebooks. But it's badly let down by being very laggy and sluggish, and having very glitchy software.Sluggish - nearly everything is painfully slow. Opening books, opening apps, looking through menu options, applying settings, etc. The only partial exception is page turning - that's acceptable, but only one page at a time, and only pages that are all text. If you turn to a page with a picture, or turn several pages in a row, it lags again, badly. Also, sometimes switching between books can take up to 30 seconds.I think part of the problem is extremely slow internal storage. Transferring even a few small files takes way too long. (Some reviewers say the Era is much faster than previous Pocketbook devices. If so, I can't imagine the older ones even being usable!)Glitchy - often the screen just doesn't register taps at all. Though it can be hard to differentiate between unregistered taps and sluggishness. When a tap does register, often the screen flashes to refresh not once, but several times. Or the tap has the wrong response. Again, when switching between books, not only can it take 30 seconds, but sometimes the second book will open, close, and then re-open, with numerous flashes while you wait. The page turn buttons work okay, but the other buttons produce erratic results.I've had Kindles and a Kobo, so I know what to expect from e-ink compared to phones and tablets. The Pocketbook Era is unacceptably slow and glitchy compared to other devices - especially considering the high price. It's a shame - the Pocketbook Era has a lot of the makings of a great device. But Pocketbook needs major performance improvements and a lot of bug fixes before this is worth buying. It took me less than a day to decide to return it.

Battery life is awful!
I received this a couple days ago, and upon opening the device I was very impressed with the quality. I did however spot a dead pixel on the screen. Okay, I am willing to look past that if the reading experience is great. The device came with 99% battery and about 2 hours of using it the battery went down to 80%. Okay.. not really the best, but maybe it was because I was messing with the settings a lot and testing out powering off and on again, so I decided to not mess with it and simply read for 1 hour intervals. 5%. That's right, 1 hour of using this device uses 5% of the battery, that is about 20 hours of use before the battery depletes. This is simply AWFUL for an ereader. I hade a poke ereader that would last WEEKS and I would barely get under 80%. However, the manual does state "To extend battery lifetime, it's recommended to charge the Device for the first time from 8 to 12 hours.", so I will test this out to see if it does in fact extend the battery life. I will update my review in a couple days after testing this, if it works I'll up the star rating and keep it, if it still depletes fast, I will return it.

A pleasant experience
I'm really loving the Pocketbook Era. The first thing to mention is the built quality is fantastic. Fit and finish is just beyond anything Kindle or Kobo could produce. It has some weight to it too that makes it feel quality rather than holo and empty inside. The asymmetrical design is just perfect for me. One gripe I had with the PW was that it's at the size where it's just awkward to hold without a popsocket or some kind of strapped case. The Era has been very intuitively designed that it can be held with one hand with my thumb resting near the raised page turn button. The speed is fantastic and the refresh is a lot smoother than the PW Gen11 which I also have. PDFs are so pleasant to read and pinch to zoom is such a better experience. Battery life is on par with the PW if you actively use every battery saving option like lower screen brightness and airplane mode so the wifi/Bluetooth isn't on.Every book file type I could need is supported including epub, html, pdf, and cbz. It even has built in Adobe Editions support that Pocketbook provides should I need to borrow DRM content I can do so natively without third party software. Similar to Kindle, it has email to device support but Pocketbook also adds Dropbox support as well as Pocketbook Cloud support as well. Download the Pocketbook App on your phone and it can manage books from Google Drive and Google Books as well. The most convenient feature I absolutely appreciate on the Pocketbook Era is the organization of my library on the device; IT ACTUALLY HAS ONE! Metadata is detected and books are organized by author, genre, collections, favorites, folders, formats, and series. No more being limited to organizing things by [Collections] and manually moving books to those folders like on the PW. Kindle needs pay attention and step up their game. For audiobooks mp3 works perfectly and the device will even detect chapters from single file m4b. One of the best audiobook reading experiences I've had with options to adjust both speed and pitch of the audio. Text to speech is very nice as well with many voices to download and speakers/Bluetooth makes things so convenient. If you want to connect it to wired headphones you can with the supplied USB-C to 3.5mm dongle. The store experience isn't something you buy the Pocketbook for as it only has access to the European store. This is good and bad; good in that you're not tied to any ecosystem like you are with Kindles or Kobo's and bad if you're looking to buy books, download and simply read like you could with Kindles and Kobo's. If you manage your book library from third party software like calibre, this is the perfect companion to sideloading however this can involve plugging the device in which, apparently the consensus is a deal breaker since people hate the inconvenience of having to plug in their device to a computer. I don't mind this at all since my library is huge. If I need to transfer a single book, I just use the email to Pocketbook feature and it receives perfectly. Never have I had a book deleted on me; Kindle users will know what I mean.Overall I really enjoy reading on my Pocketbook Era. I think it's the perfect device for me as I can work around every obstacle to maximize my experience with the device by utilizing the capabilities of the device. It isn't an all-in-one device like a Kindle could be, where you can buy books directly and check out books from a subscription service like Kindle Unlimited but if you know how to utilize third party software to manage your book library this is a fantastic option for an ereader. Audiobook support is fantastic, although I wasn't into audiobooks prior to picking this device up, I find it makes listening to audiobooks very convenient. I'm 17 audiobooks in so far this year and I feel like this is a very complete experience.

Fijne ereader!

Super consigliato
