Works well
I have it on a 4ton Carrier and it works well so far. I’m going to get a backup since they definitely aren’t the longest lasting component on my home A.C. in the year that I have had it.

Worked well initially, exploded after one month
This hard start kit was extremely easy to install on our 9-year-old Goodman 4.0 ton rooftop packaged heat pump. It remedied a compressor stall issue on startup during extremely hot Arizona weather. After a month and a few days in use, we noticed a burning smell coming from our vents, and the unit was not cooling. Upon closer inspection of the heat pump's electrical panel, the hard start kit spewed a tar-like substance all over the inside of the panel. Thankfully, it was pointing away from the PCB, contactor switch, and other electronics! Ordering the name-brand version of this, as the kit did remedy our initial issue.

Saved me $420
This was a simple DIY OEM approved Kickstarter to boost my AC compressor. My HVAC maintenance man suggested a Kickstarter due to my unit drawing maximum amps rated for my Lenox 5 ton unit. His price was $500 and because I was a "member" I would get a and no en20% discount. You can DIY too. I am 75 years old and have some mechanical background and enough electrical background for respect. I did two AC units in less than 1 hour and save more than $800.00.
