Excellent tool! What I did not like is that ...
Excellent tool! What I did not like is that it has sharp edges along the shaft, where the steel is folded into a tube and the two edges come together. It should be filed to make sure it does not cut into your hand, if you are using with two hands. I ordered this long handle tool for the purpose of using it with two hands.

Weak, easily bent.
I bent it like it was aluminum foil on the very first use. This tool is incredibly weak despite its appearance and what other users have said. I was utterly dumbfounded at how easy it was to bend it. I was prying the root of some curly dock and it ben 90 degrees the minimal effort.

This trowel was perfect.
Just got it yesterday and I took it out this morning for metal detecting and its exactly what I needed to dig the dirt and move it out of the way and then sift through the dirt. This trowel was perfect.

top fills with dirt, hard to remove
I love that the bottom edges are sharpened, I hate that when digging deep the top grabs and holds dirt. In PA with clay soil it is a huge pain to remove the dirt. I had a long handled stainless steel trowel someone stole, it was easier to work with.

Good as new years after purchase
This 18" trowel really saves my back and knees. I don't have to be on the ground to dig a precise hole. Especially good for carving out 4"-6" holes for new plants in an already full garden.I agree with the other reviewer that it's annoying that dirt can fill in the handle. However, I suspect that a lot of the trowel's strength is because it's one formed piece of steel, part of which is a sharp trowel, the rest is folded round to become the handle--with a resulting seam where the edges meet. Ignoring that dirt in the handle doesn't seem to cause any rust in the trowel - it's a robust tool, and the strongest trowel I've ever found.

Shovel strength!
Have this along with my 14” Wilcox trowel for every digging situation. This is the trowel that will give you shovel strength...love it! Great for metal detecting!

Stop buying cheap inferior trowels
Now this will be the last garden trowel I ever have to buy. It is so strong I dare say it almost unbreakable! I even bought one for my momma. She don't use it but that because she stubborn like a mule, but I do love my momma anyhow. I use it just about everyday to keep the grass out of my flower bed. And if a zombie apocalypse comes into fruition this could be an awesome weapons... So it's a bit more expensive but it will be the last trowel you'll buy unless someone stole it, which I carefully guard mine from the new rentersUpdate: I am now a believer in manifestation because I believe one of my beloved trowels was stolen…or maybe it was accidentally thrown away but anyhow one is missing…if your out there trowel and you’re suddenly a sentient being that can read I miss you dearly come back to me and I like you a lot not in love or anything…. Dang my avoidance to commitment is ridiculously strong maybe I will discuss this when I talk to my other trowel at our support group meeting for missing trowel….. I think I am funny to btw maybe there is a support group for that too.Why have trowel forsaken me! What did I do trowel for you to abandon me And it’s weed season now the yard is being over run with crab grass And a multitude of various weeds
