Great product for enhancing data security for your home
We received our Norton Core yesterday and very pleased with the product.Design: The Core itself looks clean, modern and striking – definitely appealing enough to display on a bookshelf as an art object rather than hide behind the couch like our previous router. The product photos are a good representation. The LED ring on the bottom is a really nice addition because it provides a lot of helpful information about the status of the Core during setup and, after setup, information at a glance about what is going on with your network. I also really appreciate how the hardware and app work seamlessly together. The Core seems very sturdy and has a nice weight to it. Set Up: Our out of the box experience with the Core was great. First, the packaging was secure and easy to open. Then, it was very easy to connect the hardware, just 1 cord to connect the Core to our existing modem. As noted above, the LED indicator ring on the Core makes it easy to understand how the installation is progressing. It took us about 10 minutes total get our wifi up and running through the Core.Functionality: Initially, we weren’t sure that we needed a new router, but after spending some time learning about the Core’s security features, we’re very happy that we made the switch, especially since so much of our lives are intertwined with digital devices that are susceptible to hacking. It’s amazing to see how many IOT devices are connected to our wifi, including our Withings scale, printers, Amazon Echo, Philips Hue lights, etc. Given all of these potential points of entry for viruses and whatnot, it gives us a lot of peace of mind to be able to see all of the wifi traffic coming to and going from our connected devices, to be notified when new devices join our network, and to know that deep packet inspection is going on behind the scenes. The Core has a lot of great, sophisticated security features integrated into a streamlined app.Overall, really happy with our purchase so far and would highly recommend the Norton Core.

I bought the Norton Core to replace an Apple AirPort Extreme which I love; however
I'm a loyal Symantec (Norton) customer for many years. I don't write very many reviews so I hope this one helps someone. I bought the Norton Core to replace an Apple AirPort Extreme which I love; however, I'm a PC user and you cannot set-up the port forwarding feature on the AirPort using a PC. I pre-ordered this product months ago from Norton at $199 and anxiously awaited it. Once they started shipping I was disappointed to see that customers who pre-ordered weren't receiving the router as quickly as on Amazon, so I cancelled the pre-order and paid full price in order to get it sooner. It's a very attractive looking product; but, as the saying goes, "Looks aren't everything!" While I'm not an advanced computer user, I'm certainly no novice. I found a particularly aggravation quirk in the set-up process: With two-step authentication enabled on my Norton account, I was unable to complete the set-up process using the iOS app. Each time you enter your name & password in the Core app, it would initiate the two-step process. Once you switch windows to get the text code, as soon as you return to the app it clears the sign-on screen. You have to enter your login & password again which starts the process all over. Basically you're stuck in a loop. I ended up turning off two-step authentication and then it worked. I was also not able to download the User Guide from the website after several attempts during the day; however, I was just (finally) able to do so now.Once I overcame the issue above, the remaining set-up process was painless. As advertised, this router has lots of features including port forwarding which works fine. My big disappointment is the "high performance" claim which, so far, is completely untrue. I have 300Mb/s internet service and the best I'm able to get is 60Mb/s. I've tried changing the Inspection Level in Network Settings. Even if you turn off network inspection - which is not recommended - it automatically reverts to the default in 30 mins. I see I'm not the only person with this complaint as well. I've been unable to find a fix on the web. I dread calling support again, so I'm going to check the user guide. If I find a solution, I will update this review! At the moment, I'm regretting this purchase so I really hope I run across something to change that opinion!!!

I can easily create a guest network for when friends come over ...
This was the easiest router I’ve ever installed – everything was quick and simple. The look is very modern – it blends in with the bookshelf and you can never tell it is a router. It’s only a few days, but I can already tell a difference – my internet is stronger across the house, and I get notifications from Norton about potential issues with websites. Having an app is convenient as well – allows me to understand how things are working at home for others while I am away. I can see all of my devices on the app and get a reading at any time – my speed, how many threats have been blocked; I can easily create a guest network for when friends come over (it’s already come in handy!). No issues with many devices – we have everything connected to the internet… we have signal across the house and on all of the devises.Highly recommended!!!
