The Last Guardian: An Extraordinary Story Hardcover – June 16, 2017

This is probably one of the finest "art book"s I've ever had the pleasure of owning. The development team of the game didn't make a whole lot of concept art because Ueda doesn't find it very necessary, but that's made up for by Futurepress' ability to impress. Guaranteed, if you get a book published by Futurepress, you will get quality. The opening interview is by Ryan Payton, one of the most humble developers on the planet. Fumito Ueda is interviewed as well as the rest of genDESIGN's staff for accuracy. The rest of the writing is very intriguing as it really delves into the long, long development of this game and what happened when it traded hands from genDESDIGN to Japan Studio. It even talks about decisions made, hurtles they had, and AI bugs as it takes you from the beginning to the end of the game. One con is that the outer sleeve is sensitive to humidity and moisture, so it can ripple. But the overall print quality is phenomenal.

Future Press has crafted something truly special here. Part art book and part walkthrough, it seamlessly weaves these two together shedding important light on the making of the game and the team behind it. If you are a fan of the game, and like books like this, it is a must have!One thing I will say is that Future Press NEEDS to correctly nail down release dates/windows. This is my first time purchasing one of their newly released items and placing my order back in January for a February release only to have it pushed back 3+ times to late June is not very professional. I understand these things happen, but I would recommend they simply hold off on posting pre-orders until they have some idea of when the item will likely be ready to ship.All that in mind, now that it is here it is truly something extraordinary!

This book really is amazing.Yet again, future press has made another fantastic guide... but in a form of an art book as well which I have never seen a combination like this before. You have your typical art book pages talking about the game, then you have the guide mixed in with art illustrations which blends VERY well. I was disappointed how LONG it took to get this book out... got delayed so many times it's not even funny. At one point Amazon told me it was going to come at august... but now I finally got it... even though mine got delayed despite the fact that I pre-orded it. Future Press guides continue to be absolutely amazing, but they really need to get a calendar for their releases.

If you're a fan of this incredible adventure and loved the game. You won't regret owning this treasure. A true celebration of Trico!

A little on the light side for an art book. The shape is also little long and weird on the shelf. Still worth it.

This is a detailed guide to everything you could want to know about about The Last Guardian. It has a ton of concept art and is filled with insights the authors gained by spending time embedded with the game's development team. Describing it as a "strategy guide" or an "art book" doesn't really do it justice - it uses those formats as a way to tell a story about how the game was made, but it's unique in the world of game books.

Considering this is one of my all-time favorite video games I was absolutely ecstatic to receive this in the mail today as a gift from my husband. The game was visually stunning with an added soundtrack that only boosted the beautiful aspects of this entire game. If you appreciate this game as much as I do this book is worth it.

I was super excited to get this book. It's pretty big with a lot of content. It has everything about the creation of The Last Guardian. I love the game and the company, so I just had to have it. I recommend it to anyone who likes seeing how games are created or is a fan of Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian.

I love the look of the this book as well as the fun information about the games creation, to the general guide for gameplay. Glad I was able to add it to my, The Last Guardian, collection !
