Amazing books
This book has amazing examples of how to extend and create Islamic geometric designs. Though the book is not for beginners. It would be better to start with something like https://www.amazon.com/Designa-Wooden-Books-Adam-Tetlow/dp/1620406594/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1535979497&sr=8-2&keywords=designa which shows the building blocks of the patterns. The writing is pretty incomprehensible, but the illustrations are fantastic.

Why is the clock divided into 60 seconds?
In this very interesting book Keith Critchlow shows us how spirituality and geometry are linked, in the Islamic art of exploring symmetry. Muslims have produced an extremely elaborate form of abstract art, since they have been prohibited to draw images of God or his creations. Critchlow demonstrates profusely what a vast spectrum of possibilities were discovered by Islamic geometers or mathematicians, and that the meaning of these patterns goes far deeper than mere decoration.

Great Reference Book
Keith Critchlow breaks down the geometric patterns of Islamic tilings brilliantly. The step by step explanations of how the patterns are created through geometry make it easy to start creating your own tessellations. He breaks downs the more common Islamic designs into steps that show the progression of the design. If you are interested in discovering how traditional Islamic tilings were created, this is a great book.

Master of conceptual thought
The text is so deep that I needed to read each paragraph several times to get some new concepts. Indeed a powerful initiation into the beautiful patterns of cosmic science.

There is some wild stuff in here. Mosaic patterns ...
There is some wild stuff in here. Mosaic patterns, strange number patterns, and how it all apparently relates on a cosmological scale. I don't even know what it all has to do with mosaics, and certainly can't always follow what he is saying, but he will take your brain to new places. If you are interested in mosaics and/or Islamic culture, this is a must-have.

More than just a collection of cute patterns
This book is a must for artists, mathematicians, philosophers and anyone else interested in the foundations and rationale of Islamic art. This book provides a comprehensive insight into Islamic Patterns in a clear and concise way. I have used this book on a number of occasions when I have needed inspiration for drawings, paintings and even for works of management strategy - curiously enough. It has a wonderful way of both focusing and relaxing the mind that seems to encourage channeled creativity.regards,[email protected]
