Amazing!
This is truly her best yet. As well as being a text book on Jungian theory, it is a believable life guide, challenging and encouraging, an aid to reflection.

Nature, escapism and starting over
I really enjoyed this book. A lovely tale of starting over with a garden and nature as the central theme. It didn’t end as I expected but it was a lovely book to read with tea and cakes on a Sunday afternoon. Well written, not necessarily ground breaking but what I’d class as a comfort book. Wrap up in a blanket and enjoy.

Disappointing
I love gardens/gardening, therefore I was looking forward to this book. It was rather a trite story, where sisters with a long established division, solved their issues over a couple of glasses of wine! There were so many stereotypical characters in the village, including the slightly eccentric retired schoolteacher, atheist vicar, racist village stalwarts, and also the well put about notion, completely untrue, that all worshippers in the Church of England vote Tory. The main character also had a silly and irritating name, which annoyed me throughout. The ending was completely random, and I actually wondered if two books had been merged together in error - it bore no resemblance to anything that had happened up to that point. There were some very nice descriptive passages regarding the garden, but in general the book was disappointing.

Difficult to believe Sally Vickers got it so wrong
I am a fan of Sally Vickers, I have read all her books and I am always waiting for a new one to emerge to read it but this book is such a disappointment! I am even wondering if she is ok? It is the first time that a book written by Vickers has nothing to do with her writing style. The story is all over the place, disorganised, like an old fashion cheap novel and the ending is so terribly put together I felt irritated! I am still worried something is not right with one of my favourite authors and I pray I am wrong!

Great read
Enjoyed the different relationship in the book, and the way in which one sister wanted to be part of the village, and the other did not.

A lot of hype for a rather unexceptional novel
There's very little new or ground-breaking here, nothing that takes your breath away. It's a country saga about two sisters, an old house and a gardener. And the gardener, who is the most interesting character, is barely developed and stays in the background. I had hoped for more.
