Review DTPH is the short form used for this film. The film is from the most successful Yash s production. The film stars Shah Ruck Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Karishma Kapoor. The film is about the incidents that happen in a dance team. Shah Ruck Khan and Karishma Kapoor form the dancing pair. They are close friends. Slowly Karishma falls in love with Shah Rukh. Meanwhile Shah Rukh falls in love at first sight with the Madhuri who arrives to their dance studio. Because of friendship Karishma sacrifices her love on learning that Shah Rukh loves the other and helps him in his love. The series of events that happen along are well portrayed making it an interesting film. The film has many foot tapping numbers and superb duet songs. It is worth watching more than once. It is a complete entertainer and you will be driven to watch it several times. --bollywoodhungama.comThe story is fairly simple, and may be the only thing lacking in the movie. Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), a director, starts with describing a new play that his performing team is going to put on "Maya", translated as "illusion". The lone female dancer in his team is Nisha (Karisma Kapoor). Nisha, madly in love with Rahul, once tells him about her love. As Rahul starts making this play with Nisha in the lead as "Maya", she gets injured, and the real "Maya", Pooja (Madhuri Dixit) arrives. Pooja is arranged to marry Ajay (Akshay Kumar), a businessman from London. Pooja takes the part as Maya hesitantly. From there, the story rolls to the finale quite peacefully. Shah Rukh Khan dominates the movie. His role as Rahul is played valiantly and may be deserving of an award. Karisma Kapoor dominates her role also. Her talents, shown off again after Raja Hindustani, may make her a mainstay in the film industry. Madhuri Dixit, as Pooja, shows off her talent as an actress, and this role may bring her back into the numero uno spot, as it was left up for grabs because many big name female character films flopped this year. The music sounds even better in the film than on cassette. The choreography and technical aspects of the direction during the songs show off the real beauty of Yash Raj Films. Yash Chopra s direction stresses his experience and delicate handling of the movie. Many other directors destroy films at their endings, especially films with weak scripts. The dialogues by Aditya Chopra showed off his young talents. The handling of the dialogues by Yash Chopra may make the dialogues better than they actually were, but they worked well in the context of the movie. The movie is a must watch for all you die hard romantics out there. --bollywoodhungama.com About the Actor There is not a dot in Bollywood that does not carry Shahrukh Khan's name. FUN, LOVE, DREAMS OF True Love, then THE ENDING.
This is a great movie. Full of laughter, fun, loving times and showing that Hindu people can be funny and happy go lucky as Americans, and not stiff. This movies showed my guy I like Khan in a grouchy role that I did not like for him but he played it well...and then his hard heart got soft and blossomed.Great love story although it made me angry because neither of the lovers would admit they loved each other, but finally he did. But Pooja refused to admit that she loved him even to the very end. That was so frustrating and other people had to do it for her. If you don't speak up for yourself, you can lose the love of your life, your soul mate forever, and then its too late. You have to speak up no matter how scary it maybe. Don't lean to your own weakness, lean to GOd's strength to give you courage to do what you can't do.Never feel like you are obligated to someone to marry them just because you said yes under pressure or given a short time to decide. No ONE SHOULD GIVE ANYONE 5 MINUTES TO DECIDE IF THEY WILL MARRY THEM. That is a too greater decision to be made on the spur of the moment or on a short time by someone else. IT'S UNFAIR, and you must speak up and say...NO, I need more time.Never let anyone back you up into a corner, and men can't expect a woman to be in love with them when they are friends, just because they have fallen in love with his female friend. That 's crazy.I really thought that this was a lost 'soul mate' love that would never come around, but it took the fiance to act to cause her to wake up and be honest with her feelings and love for her true love. They both refused to say they love each other in situations. They allowed their feelings to get hurt and to save face, denied they loved each other. FOOLISH.Good for him, he heard the tape. Finally, it came out perfectly, but it will keep you on th edge of your seat and angry, fussing at her to speak up.The ending was beautiful.

charm and such a good story, highly
As with most Bollywood movies, give it a few minutes to get past the 'stage show performance' that it opens with to find the movie itself. It's not a 'glitz' movie in that it has much more substance in its own light way. But if you don't like stage dance performances at all, this movie may not be for you; though there's much more to the movie than the stage show pieces. It's a show about putting on a show, with much great music and friendship in the mix and a love story or two. You may find it a little dated but this is a Bollywood masterpiece with so much beauty, fun, aliveness and heart, and is such a good story with good music. Highly recommended. Shahrukh Khan is wonderful in this, and so is Madhuri Dixit, Karisma Kapoor, Akshay Kumar; fun to see them in their younger days. Lots of little vignettes in one story. Was absolutely charmed by it and it's one that I bought so as to always have it. One of the late, great Yash Chopra films (this one from 1997) (Yash Raj films). Wish there were a 100 more movies like this to watch.

Love Is Not Just An Illusion
This movie was a Bollywood blockbuster several years ago. At first appearance, it seems like a superficial, silly, sentimental musical about a cynic who learns to love. A closer look reveals more of an almost religious discussion of the nature of love. Are we fated to love the people we wind up with? Why doesn't God give us a clearer sign of what is right for us?In the story, a successful MTV-style producer offers his adoring public a new show with a new dance star, Maya. Unfortunately, Maya does not exist and he must find her, hence beginning his search to find love. The word "Maya" is a Hindu philosophical/religious concept meaning "the illusion of reality." I think this adds a broader interpretation to the story. The songs and dances are almost all great and terrific Bollywood. "Koi ladki hai" with the pavement children is one of the best musical numbers I have ever seen. It highlights our hero's first realization that he loves Maya in a poignant way.I have seen this show 3 times and it gets better each time. Highly recommended!

Can You Say UNDULATING?!
This movie throbs with every promise, every hope, every flitter of love oscillating in the soft winds. Translate that into supremely choreographed dance expression, and add the very sexy divas, Madhuri Dixit(Pooja) and Karisma Kapoor(Nisha), and you will experience your own inner fire roaring with eagerness. Madhuri performs an incredible indigenous-based solo, using ankle bells to accentuate the accent of her sound and sensuality. Through this movie, you will experience the escalating tensions of love denied. Even when Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) and Pooja are not in the physical presence of one another, one becomes as thoroughly enchanted as they are by their blossoming love. If eye gestures and nods, undulating whirls and leaps, or faint gasps of inspiration can paint strokes of lips yearning to kiss, or of a heart throbbing passionately, picture yourself swelling with applause, standing up for something larger than mediocrity. Will these lovers stand up for true love, or settle for what others expect?

Can Friendship Become Love?
I guess not in this Yash Chopra Romance .... but it still full of Karisma in all senses of the word. She is the perfect tragic heroine in this movie

Als Bollywoodfilm-Fan fast schon ein MUß
Klasse Film.

Dil To Pagal Hai
A happy first choice of an Indian musical. The music is memorable with interesting harmonies, the dancing is a great combination of movement and brilliant colour with subtle rhythms, a feeling of wellbeing and vigorous life is generated as viewing proceeds. All this is threaded together around a love story narrative. Altogether viewing was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and I have returned to it several times and been exhilarated each time. Although I was dependent on English subtitles this was not a problem. Some insights into Indian culture were a bonus to sheer entertainment. Recommended.
