A necessary product, done minimally.
Testing seems to show they kick in somewhat randomly between 2.65 and 2.8v. That makes me squirm quite a bit. Their actual discharge ability seems quite small, so while they should work for small voltage spikes and overcharges, on a less stable, cheaper, or battery-tie system then better could be vital. In other words... does it protect? Yes, but not a lot.My biggest complaint, though, is the total lack of an LED or indicator for when they're balancing. It's fairly easy to bodge on your own between the resistors but it sees like a trivially simple SMD LED would be a great improvement. I know i'd pay a happy $5 extra for a pack with that! Hint hint.
